Match Point - Woody Allen

Starring the guy from 'The Tudors' and Scarlett Johansen.

This movie actually did not suck. I caught it about 20 minutes into it and could not look away. This is a story about a tennis pro/teacher who marries into an extremely wealthy family. His wife is lovely and her family loves him. The father gives him a cushy job and his life could not be easier.

Then he meets Scarlett J.

She is the current financée of his future brother in law. She is hot with a smoldering 'come hither' stare. They embark on a one time but torrid love affair until said brother in law dumps her and marries another girl. She leaves the country but comes back and they run into each other again. They start fucking madly - all the while his wife desperately wants to get pregnant but can't. It's become mechanical and he rarely wants to have sex with her.

He does, however, fuck Scarlett's character as often as possible.

This isn't a story about misguided love or the thin line between love and lust. This is a story about a man caught between what's good, what's fucking great and what can fucking ruin his life. His mistress becomes pregnant and INSISTS he leave his wife, chloe. His choice now is - does he leave this wealthy life yet mediocre marriage for this suddenly psycho, raging but incredibly sexy woman who is now carrying his child...or does he end it with such a savage finality that it shakes him to the core.

The ending will surprise you. It had me yelping, 'OH OH OH' and making Mike turn around from his computer and get into it as well. It's not your typical Woody Allen movie - although he wrote and directed it. It's darker and more volatile for sure and thankfully he has no cameo that I notice. Great ending though, had me on the edge of my seat. Had its funny comic moments but it was pretty dark and pretty powerful.
