Am I a prude...

Because this kind of picture offends me?

I'm sorry, but the girls in these pictures look like my ELEVEN YEAR OLD daughter... from the neck up. It really makes me sick to see grown men creating things like this; I get the feeling that faeriewylde is being inundated with pedophiles... I actually made mention at one point regarding a freebie set that was offered for Laura that is basically a street corner set that comes with HUUUGE SPIKED HEEL SANDALS... just actually mentioned that the sandals would be great if they were flats, and got replies stating that it's just art, it doesn't really MEAN anything, that I'm being ridiculous, etc... bullshit.

I visit there less and less just because of this stuff that's cropping up. Lovely that they mention that it's "nudity" in the subject line, and some of the nude stuff is tasteful and artistic. Then there's the stuff that makes my gorge rise. Is that stupid and prudish of me?

Thank you, by the way, for letting me spout. It's been on my back burner for a while, and it steams me; mentioned it to Sabby and she seems to feel the same way about them... :)

Thanks Temp...I think I was looking for just that clarification. True, there isn't anything illegal in those pics, therefore I suppose I also agree there should be a place for them in the world. I see too much censorship now for my tastes, and much more would start to get downright scary.

So I will do what I tell anyone...I won't look, comment, or support it in anyway. :)

Me and Verity we're just talking about this like 2 weeks ago. I'm not an easily offended person but I thought some of it was just dancing on the line of what I would think of as acceptable. It doesn't really offend me since it's nothing I would seek out to look at. Some of Thornes stuff on his DA page is a little uhm disturbing since the body types of the models so closely resemble that of my 9 year old. I certainly wouldn't want to see a picture of my kid all sexed up.
Darsa 18 years ago
I do have to say, in defense of Thorne, that none of the stuff that I am referring to was actually done by him. He may have created the characters, but that's not really the difficulty I have. Heck, I have a lot of the stuff that Thorne and Sarsa have done, I like a lot of it. The difficulty I have is that this looks TO ME like peeking inside the brain of a pedophile, and it disgusts me, frankly. (and I've never seen Thorne's DA site, sounds to me as tho I may avoid it tho!)

I'm certainly not looking to censor anyone, by any means, and I'm sorry that you can't see the pics I linked (none of the others will allow a direct link). It just totally grossed me out, and I was feeling like I was the only one who felt that way; I thought this would be the safest place to ask a question like that. I didn't really feel like being dumped on over there for censorship and having it turned around on me that I have a sick mind for thinking such things about stuff that's "not real life, it's just 3D art".

QFT - I adore Thorne's characters...I just don't like the way these 'artists' used them.
Laschae 18 years ago
Yea me too. This one he did tho, it bugs me a little http://faeriewylde.deviantart.com/art/Pyramid-Scheme-57075029 she just looks too little girl to me.
Den 18 years ago
See - that one doesn't bother me...the girl has boobs. Sure she has a sort of youngish face, but a lot of adult women do. I just get the heebie jeebies when I see girls who are obviously young, due to lack of boobage, yet they're all dressed up in stilettos, and sheer outfits...*shudders*

EXACTLY. My 11-almost-12 year old has just barely started developing, and I can EASILY see her in place of some of those pics... gives me nightmares, I'll tell ya.

I would have to agree. That one doesn't bother me. the under developped girls in the sexy clothes and high heels bother me.
Laschae 18 years ago
Yea I didn't look at the second picture Darsa linked til Verity showed me. That's bad. I think I find it more weird that people gave positive feedback about it. I think that they appear to be at the stage where girls are just developing breasts really is what bugs me. I tend to avoid nudity because some people have different opinions of what is tasteful than I do.
SnowDragon 18 years ago
Very true. If I do nudity I try to make it tasteful and lol hide it in a modest way. Just because I know my girls look at my art. And I think to myself is this something my girls could see.

There's one picture that Vex did that is overtly sexual, personally I liked it but one of the old DD givers on DA said something about it being over the line, but that's again, art is subjective. Lemme find the piece...

http://vexiphne.deviantart.com/art/Olivia-25382309 - NSFW

Personally I like it. Some nudity you shouldn't have to apologize for. Hopefully y'all get my point on this hehe.
Den 18 years ago
But that picture is of an adult woman. Nude adults are awesome. I mean...well nude kids are too...I'll admit to biting the butt of my daughter when she was little...however, the fact is I've never looked at a child in a sexual way, and I have to admit most nudes I see of adults...well...I can appreciate them esthetically, but I also see them in a different light at the same time.

" I just get the heebie jeebies when I see girls who are obviously young, due to lack of boobage, yet they're all dressed up in stilettos, and sheer outfits...*shudders* "

I have to agree.. Never use T&S bodies either lol Just for that reason =/ I donno to each his own. II personally don't like that cuz it makes me feel like I'm peeking in on my daughter in the shower or something like that. While I may see them as that others may see them as pure innocent beauty. Like nekkid baby cheribs? (sp?)

Most of those images linked are characters made for MADDIE which is DAZ3D's : Millennium Kids- Preschoolers or Preeteen packs .........
ROzbeans 18 years ago
I used laura once and I put a harry potter outfit on her. I won't lie, the ick factor crossed my mind when I was working with the naked model =x
Adiene 18 years ago
yeah I'ves used Laura once! lol (well in artwork, i don't count DAZ promos lol) I used her in my faerie Ruins picture and she's covered up in a two piece but was going for young innocent faerie gal :) its worked out ok hehe
Vex 18 years ago
pff. i think allowing kids to see nudity has no repercussions. I'd rather a kid be exposed to vaginas and penises and boobies opposed to people getting shot up , beaten etc.

people prolly think im a perv cause i like nekkid girls. oh well, what can i say. i -love- nekkid girls.

besides, the shock factor of my mom seeing olivia was WELL worth the render time :D

but yeah, these people who use maddie and laura and don't "womanify" them.. make me sick.

awhile back Blackhearted did the COOLEST morph EVER for mil girls2. its called.. something. Nia. gave her a very adult body, a nice corset, panties, and shoes. but it kept her petite frame. i spent damn near $60 for that shit lol. ( i didnt have the mil2 girls so i had to buy them )

if these people did those types of morphs on these little bodies, i could appreciate it, but all i want to do to them now is beat them in the face :/
Adiene 18 years ago
wuwu i love nekkid girls too =D
patslash 18 years ago
i have to tell that i agree with the most of you, i dont like those renders and i dont like seeing little girls naked, even if i have no particular problem about nudity. aiko for instance, can be totally nekkid and i have nothing against it, though i'm not used to nudity in my own works.
i visit frequently faeriewylde and i have to say that i was more than once made sick by fishnose images and sometimes comments...the one who posted the second image, laura with butt up and showing...i really dont like this manner

I don't think you're being a prude. Yes, for all the freedom of expression banner-wavers out there: art is subjective.
And so is opinion.
And my opinion is pics like the "Oops did I forget something?" picture of the pantyless maid in heels who looks 8 years old, are smut with 0 artistic value - to me. I'm allowed to think it, and I do. I can appreciate that work and creativity went into the piece, but I don't like seeing the end result, and I do/would have suspicious concerns about the mind and motivation that the virtual child-porn came out of.

I in no way imply that anyone has to agree with me, nor do I think my opinion should be enforcible law. Again, art is subjective, and someone out there might enjoy looking at coy and sexy suggestive pin-ups of children; but I don't.

So no, I don't think you're being a prude. And all the folks that gave you static for not liking the work need to remember that speech and opinion is a free form of expression too.
You don't like it, don't look?
Well if ya don't like it, don't read it.

In closing: *snap-snap-snap* You GO, girl!

I was raised very Catholic...so in many ways I am a prude...with a capital "P." Now, that being said...I appreciate beauty and nudes can be tasteful and beautiful. I do not generally care for images that are overtly sexual (and I do not consider artistic nudity to be overtly sexual).

I am not registered at Fariewylde so the only image I could see was the one that was directly linked here. I think it is very inappropriate to dress an obviously pre-pubescent girl in sheer fabrics. Like many folks here, I am uncomfortable with it. My reason may be a bit different from yours though. As a 12 year old girl going to the theater in Manhattan with my girl scout troop, I was grabbed off the street by a man who tried to drag me down an alley. I shudder to think what would have happened had I not spent years wrestling with my brothers. I was able to break his hold and run away.

Portraying little girls in a manner that makes them look like sexual beings encourages pedophiles...at least that is my opinion.
