Because you know I had to post it - Britney Spears VMA performance

i've pretty much ignored this whole mess. that it headlines national news is pathetic. i don't have an issue with it headlining the tabloids - but it really doesn't need to be all over every news cast, radio news update, internet news site... gimme a break. the girl has problems - i can't call her a woman, that would imply she's an adult and she's anything but that. she needs help - which it appears she's attempting to get. great. but this is not the crap i want my daughter to have floating around as a rolemodel - unless it's a model of what not to do.

last semester in my advanced writing class, somehow this dingbat came up. we were formulating thesis arguments and the teacher like to use current stuff. this was about the time that britney lost the babies the first time. EVERYONE else in the class felt she would take that as a wake up call and get her act together. They all thought I was nuts when I said that she would behave for maybe a month, then lose them again and within a few months k-fed would have full custody. she does not learn from her mistakes and is alienating everyone around her in the process.

this doesn't need to be on the news - it's private, and as much as i hat e to admit it, she is human (shudder) and deserves at least that much respect. anyone else who did this kind of thing (and ask anyone who works the family court system - this type of behavior is a daily occurance around the country) would have lost the kids, been given a 3mile long list of things to do by a judge if they ever wanted to see those kids again and would have to get help and stick with it. i am not trying to attack those who are truly in need of mental treatment - there are legitimate issues there. but having a mental illness does not excuse one from being responsible for their actions. part of that responsibility is getting treatment, sticking with it, and taking the needed meds in order to cope on a day to day basis.

I don't think being mentally ill excuses bad behavior either. The only thing I can point out is that I know from growing up people with bi-polar disorder will be on meds, their highs and lows even out, and then they go oh cool I feel great no more meds. That combined with alot of mentally ill people self medicating through the use of drugs and alcohol can be huge issues. These are all the things I have learned from growing up with my only parent having this disorder. I hope Britney takes the pills but also gets lots of therapy to understand you don't get better from this you just have to learn to live with it.

I just hate that her lipstick makes her look like my mother-in-law. :o

Perhaps whilst in the loony bin she could have some one come touch up her weave.

Well I'm glad her parents have finally stepped in and have taken over her medical care - plus put a restraining order on that weirdo Sam Lufti. Why the hell she'd give him authority over her health is ridiculous. Maybe she'll get the help she needs now.

I don't think she's bi-polar. I think she just likes to bi-alotofdrugs and take them.

Well it's good that her parents are now taking care of her. I think they must have planned this a long time but had to wait until it became possible. I hope they do the right thing by her and get her the hell out of Hollywood and away from all the people using her. Whether she's on drugs or just messed up who knows.

Hmmmm...Something is wrong here. I feel sorry for her. Like really sorry for her. If this is true, and apparently the courts think so, then she has been so abused that I just feel bad.

I guess the one question that surfaced before anything else, for me, is "why did it take her parents so long to realize something was wrong?" If, in fact, it is outside people who are causing her chaotic life. I mean yes, she's a grownup, but they're STILL her parents and she is STILL their child. Not to mention their two grandchildren.

I think it's a good thing I'm not famous; paparazzi like we have nowadays would more than likely cause me to commit murder. I could NOT handle all that shit up in my face all the time, no way. :_dancing

Oh well no amount of legal maneuvering can make some one that is screwed up get the help they need. She clearly doesn't want it.

I honestly think her parents had to wait it out because I don't think the courts would have stepped in until she got real crazy. There are plenty of people that are in situations similar to hers and I doubt the courts will do much. I think they waited until it was so public that she needed serious intervention before they tried to get the courts to help them do it. Besides that Sam creep had pretty much cut off all contact with her parents and kept her drugged up.

I don't know how much more she can fall on her face at this point. I'm back to not feeling badly for her because as soon as she gets out of the hospital she's back to the same shit. People stick up and say the press stalk her but she plays her part too. There are plenty of celebrities that manage to keep themselves removed from the chaos and are still successful.

She could and should leave hollywood for many many months.

Well apparently this year's VMA award show was orchestrated to redeem Britney Spears from her fiasco (and I think best performance ever) last year. She won 3 moonmen for a song and video I haven't even seen or heard of but at least she looked nice.

She started the show off by holding a microphone so high up that it blocked her entire face and said a 20 word line without slurring, tripping or looking fat.
