C/C on NS

Is it me or do people hate me on NS? I never get c/c on my stuff and I'm fairly certain I'm putting it clearly that I want 4.9 (5 highest) c/c. =/ I know y'all here give me c/c when I post here so I dont expect ya'll to think of something else to post over there too, but honestly...do people hate me over there? =(

Its why I started posting less in the manip section, hell I barley read the manip section over there anymore. I think I'm HELLA far from being a great manip'er so I'm always looking for c/c, ALWAYS. Makes me sad.

Constructive Criticism

Norrath's Studio - Art board where a lot of fantasy art is posted. Sigs, Magelo's, portraits etc. (EQ, WoW, CoH, etc)

I'm with ya there Ry. I got a PM requesting CC, upon giving it I got a reply with, "Well I liked that the way it is, /sigh, why can't people appreciate good art and not pick it apart like it's something else"

WTF?

OMG, Immy I remember that. HAHA, it was one of my favorite people, too.

I stopped requesting c/c because I wasn't getting it anymore so why bother? I think I'm in the same boat with you, Mae.

We had this same issue like 1 1/2 to 2 years ago, I think. There was this whole discussion on c/c etiquette.

I think I'm guilty of avoiding c/c nowadays. This sounds kind of lousy, but I'm just tired of the whole process. Newer manip artists are making all the same blunders that everyone goes through in the beginning, and even though they haven't heard my comments, I feel like a broken record because I see the same things over and over again and have the same comments to make. And when it comes to veteran manip artists, I know it's easy to become really comfortable with your own personal style and I'm afraid someone will take offense if I make a comment about something they have ALWAYS done.

I think Saraq nailed it on the head with the generations on NS, and other forums. I have noticed that newer members get more critique than us veterans. And c/c seems to be a trend that goes in waves. Sometimes it feels like EVERYONE is eager and ready to c/c everything in sight, and sometimes it's like pulling teeth to get one constructive comment out of people.

*shrug* I'm over it. When I need honest-to-god-tear-it-up c/c, I contact trusted peers directly.

Wow, that was an old thread. Vex even commented on it, my god! That was a year and a half ago too. That's honestly how I felt back then. I was afraid to c/c because I felt like I didnt know diddly, but now after 2 years of doing it I'll post my 2 cents and let the artist decide. I think c/c is really personal preference. Rikr just posted something and I kept saying, 'hey personal preference but i'd do this'...I didnt want him to stray what made him unique, but he asked so I said.

I just want someone's opinion of what they think of the piece. Glaring flaws. Can you tell I rushed this that or the other. Would you like this piece of art. Hell, would you PAY for this piece of art. I like the c/c I get here. I have pm'd people directly for c/c on the NS board but honestly those people are here now.

:ghug

I hope everyone feels they can post AND c/c anything here without anyone having a hissy fit. Take c/c for what it is, advice. You dont have to take it but its nice to know. =)
