Remake I might see: Knight Rider

With the premiere of "Bionic Woman" a ratings success story for the beleaguered NBC, it's no surprise that the network is brushing off another classic high-concept sci-fi show reports the trades.

The Peacock is planning to remake classic 1980s series "Knight Rider" and has hired director Doug Liman ("The Bourne Identity," "Mr. and Mrs. Smith") to helm a two-hour backdoor pilot that could be ready for broadcast by the end of this season.

Dave Andron is writing the script and if that pilot is successful, a new series based on the property could be ready in time for next Fall. Three attempts were made in the 90's to bring back the franchise with little success.

William Daniels is getting on in age - he's 80 now I think - so the voice might be a bit different unless Dan Castanelatta wants to take on another impressionist role.

uuummm.... after 3 (failed) revival attempts.... you'd think they'd give it up. And all things considered, I never considered KR to be sci-fi...

Knight Rider 2000 was an okay semi-standalone movie that ended, for the most part, the original series' story.

Knight Rider 2010 kinda stunk and wasn't all that deserving of the name. so what if the car was cobbled together from junk, and so what if his wife's bramaged dain is inside the car's computer... it's not KR.

Team Knight Rider was fun while it lasted.

2010 was forgettable. I'll tune in to see what they come up with. If the movie pilot takes off, tentative ideas were KITT vs other cars as opposed to the original series concept. I enjoyed KR back in the day and especially loved the episodes with KARR... so I'm intrigued.
