Wolverine - May 09

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news07/071018f.php

With Disney's third "Narnia" film having left the spot, 20th Century Fox has moved in and staked its claim on May 1st 2009 for the release of Hugh Jackman-led actioneer "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

The story explores the character's violent and romantic past, and his complex relationship with Victor Creed and the ominous Weapon X program, as well as his encounters with other mutants - some of which have appeared in the existing three "X-Men" films.

Liev Schreiber is reportedly in final talks to take on the role of a younger version of nemesis William Stryker, played by Brian Cox in "X2."

Hood will start shooting in Australia this November before moving to New Zealand and, later, to New Orleans. This last location hints that we might see the long-awaited appearance of the mutant Gambit.

Fox has now staked out releases on all three major weekends of 2009 - "Wolverine" on May 1st, "Avatar" on Memorial Day Weekend, and "Ice Age 3" on July 1st.

*EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE*

Oh dear God in heaven PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let them cast Remy good. I have been dying for this for well over a decade.

$10 bucks they cast Ryan Renolds. O_o And omg Ice Age 3? Please god let it not be with Queen Latifah.

God I hope not there are so many far more talented and less famous actors who would be better in this role. He would fuck up my favorite X Man on the scale of what Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson did to Starsky and Hutch.

Ryan Reynolds... ahhhhhhhh.. hmmm. He was pretty good as being tough in Blade and he has the right physique in some shots but no way can I look at him and hear the accent that sends shivers down my spine while melting me into a puddle. He isn't the one, he's too "funny" an actor. You need someone that oozes more sex appeal than Bond and has the athletic ability to do the gymnast level moves Gambit does... with style, petite, with style.

I'm also wondering considering, since this is a "prequel", will they go with a much younger Remy? Say a young teen? He's supposed to be close in age to Rogue and since they made her so young he would need to follow suit right? (don't get me started on that disgusting rape of her character background they did for the movies)

I still can't see Anna Paquin as Rogue. Not to sound like a bandwagon rider, but Rogue and Gambit were always my favorites. She just comes across as too "kiddie" for my tastes.

I was looking around at other people's suggestions for the role. Rodrigo Santoro was a pretty impressive pick, I thought.

oh dear.. I don't know who he is or if he can even act but.. the hair, the stubble.. yesyesyes he is a yummy choice for Remy!

And what I'm sure they did was took Rogue and Shadowcat and combined them for the movie.. essentially the fatherly role Logan took towards Kitty but had to make it Rogue for the angle to work with Eric's powers at the end. Obviously Kitty couldn't have powered that machine. I wish they'd been a *tad* more like the comics and maybe had Mystique find the runaway girl and take her in for just such a purpose.. but I guess the connection to the X-Men wouldn't have been there. Just was such a butchering of one of my top 3 faves it makes me ill *sigh*

And Vish she WAS too kiddie and like Sergon said waaaay too much of a whiney pussy. And what she did at the end of the third movie!? ARGH!!! Rogue's had ample chances to give up her powers, hell she DID lose them for a while but asked for them back when it was needed. I hate when writers think they have to portray all sides of a story, the whole see this is why some people DO want to give up their powers. UGH.

I hate the actress they picked for Rogue. That whole character was fucking annoying in the movies.

I'd been hoping for some eye candy hotness to fill that part. She's one of the reasons I haven't bothered watching any of the movies more than once. It creeps me out every time I see her.

No Fucking Clue who this guy is. I really hope he doesn't fuck up my favorite X Men Character.

possibilities there..

urrrmmmmmmmm.. I see they made Remy younger to pair up with the blasphemous mess they made Rogue into. At least that bodes well for those of us that are Remy-Rogue fans and had our skin crawling whenever she was all cuddly with Bobby.

edit - here's a nice pic..

the hair, the facial structure.. not bad. I need to rewatch the Covenant and see how his acting skills were.

Would've preferred Ryan as Gambit. The character is so much about high confidence, wit and charisma.
Vishanti 14 years ago
Well, I can definitely see Ryan playing Deadpool. He's just allowed himself to get typecast as the funny guy, and the character's all about snarky comments regardless of the situation.

I always wanted to write in and ask why no one ever hooked Gambit and Rogue up with Leech for security. Heck, they could've had a soundproofed room with someone entertaining him next door so they could have some privacy. No permanent loss of powers, no risk of killing Gambit. How could that go wrong?

...unless Leech died, got kidnapped, or got bored enough to walk away. Or Rogue got preggers.

Saw on tv that one of the Black Eyed Peas guys is going to be in the movie - wasn't paying attention to whether or not he was going to be a major character.
