i remember reading a story about this - some lady got more than a bit miffed with her hubby - who was playing this to the point of absurdity. apparantly he had "met" someone and gotten married... and all that entails, which apparantly gets rather steamy.... that kind of thing scares me a bit. i know i can get a bit caught up in EQ2 on occasion, but not to the point of forgetting i actually do have a real life!!
and this doesn't include your monthly member fees.... holy smokes.
Islands are priced at US$1,675 for 65,536 square meters (about 16 acres). Monthly land fees for maintenance are US$295.

Is that real money?

yeah - anything real is labeled as US$ - anything ingame in labeled as L$. And that was just to own an island. even regular plots of land can run you up to $195 a month. And people pay this... wow.

Companies pay to market inside this as well and real estate agents actually buy up the land and resell it. I was talking with a friend whose a real tech geek he knows all about this. People are fucking wacked. Then again I never understood why some tard payed me $600 for sergon after the peek of the game had long been gone either.

I tried it for a little while. It was ok but how much endless gambling and dancing can one do and not go insane or get bored. I got bored. Could be why I am playing eq2 now. hehe

for kicks and grins i went poking around ebay - and wasn't as surprised as i shuold have been that there are half a dozen lvl70 acounts being auctioned off. even if i had the money to burn to buy one of those - i wouldn't have a clue how to actually USE the charrie at lvl 70 since I wouldn't have built them up and played them out. I mean really! about once a month my guildies all get together to powerlevel - but never more than 2-3 lvls cuz otherwise I have no clue what I can/can't do or how to use the new spells and such I've picked up. half the fun of playing the darn thing is figuring out the charries strengths and weaknesses.
