Saw You in The Store - a poem
I saw you in the store today
I asked you about a new toy
I remembered your name and face
Haven't seen you since I was a boy
The last I memory I have of you
You were protecting someone mean
I was protecting my little brother
You tore my jacket and beat my bean
We barely talked after that rough moment
But enemies we called each other not
Drifted apart, I guess you could say
And I ended up moving around a lot
You told me of the last few years
And the hardships you endured
Married then divorced, you said no tears
Three children, then minus one
I saw the pain across your eyes
Hidden behind cute glasses
But you said you're moving on
As time goes by the pain passes
I remembered you being taller
You said I had much lighter hair
I said you looked great for almost thirty
I saw a blush on your cheeks reach your hair
You're seeing someone new you said
Getting your life back on track
Gotta get back to work, you said
To see me in the store, please soon come back.
