RON BLACHUT certainly is an idiot.
During my pregnancy I worked clear up thru Friday 13th, and delivered on Wednesday 18th. I went back to work three weeks later, having used my vacation time as my time off. I did have my regular pre-natal visits, but made up all the time I took off, because I was working hourly back then, and had no maternity health benefits...I couldn't afford any extra time off.
Being pregnant does not equal incompetence.
Just for the helluvit, I'd love to see the statistics on how many days the average male politician misses, for whatever reason, and compare that to the average female politician, pregnant or not, and compare the two.

oh brother.
Hell I worked until the day before the first two were born and only left a week early on the third becuase they had the temp ready for me and I was having health issues toward the end of that one. And I worked during the first maternity leave from my home (becuase the temp could not figure out wtf she was doing and I didn't want to lose my health benefits!!) Any time taken off for dr visits was made up - and all were scheduled to take my work load into consideration. (Actually, the funniest part of the 1st was my boss's overwhelming fear that I would go into labor and he'd have to deliver - I had to fight to stay at work as long as I did!!)
I think most women attempt to do what they can to keep their responsibilities up to the best of their abilities and according to the state of their health during the pregnancy, or at least that's been my observation when having pregnant women in the work place. This idiot is just that - an idiot.
