No country for old men

Could have sworn I posted about this already...

Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem

The first half of this movie is ridiculously good, it's the latter half that is completely mind boggling. The tagline is 'There is no clean getaway' and it rings true with Josh Brolin. Oh he could have, if he hadn't had a conscious about what he found out in the fields and mountains.

Without giving anything away, I'll say this. Josh Brolin's character is your typical cowboy - quiet, smart and ingenious. Javier Barden's character, the serial killer, equally smart, quiet and ingenious with a splash of some serious psychotic behavior. His reasons for killing people are bizarre as well and some of the people he does kill - it leaves you scratching your head. Tommy Lee Jones' character is the comic relief, so to speak. He trails behind the path that the two leave him while he's on the verge of retiring. It puts his character into a deep contemplative state and has a large part of the ending - which didn't make sense, unfortunately.

What was odd and a little bit of a let down was the very ending. It just came out of no where and ended on a strange odd note. I will want to watch it again but both Mike and I were confused as hell at how they ended it. I dont know - this is cryptic, I know, but I'd recommend people seeing it for themselves.

I knew about the ending before I saw it, or rather that it just...ended, so maybe that's why I wasn't too bothered by it. In any event, I found this movie riveting, and interesting to think about afterward. I also thought all the players were excellent.

I do have to say as well...I always feel a bit odd praising a movie like this, but do recommend seeing it as well.
