social networking tools.. or something
well we all know about myspace and facebook... but lately i have been looking at lots of social networking stuff.
here's a few some of you may or may not be interested in. tbh im just posting this because i dont have anyone else to talk to cause everyone is asleep, pregnant, or working.
on the surface its a pretty useless tool, until you get the desktop apps to make it useful. basically its a miniblog/quick way to let your friends what you're doing, or to get feedback on a certain something or whatever.
the desktop app i've found that i like the most is www.twhirl.org it requires ADOBE AIR to run, but its cross platform and really simple to setup.
you can also tweet by adding "[email protected]" to your Gtalk account, or using your phone ( haven't tested this part yet )
you can also get a twitter plugin on your Facebook profile, as well as a wordpress plugin
this one is really new. it just exited private beta and its got some great features. you can post links, files, or messages to your friends, or to a specific friend. it also has a desktop app for it that uses ADOBE AIR. pretty damn nifty. ( IF YOUR NAME IS ADIENE: GET THIS NOW )
haven't used it yet because all my FB friends are pregant, asleep, or working, but basically it lets you talk to your FB buddies. MAC Users can use iChat or Adium to talk instead of downloading yet another client. tutorial on site for that.
not really a social communication tool, more one-way, its a mini blog basically. pretty neat nonetheless, allows you to quickly post links, pics, etc to a blog.
well anyways, thats just some of the stuff i've found lately that was kinda neat. if i keep going i'll get too nerdy/geeky for the rest of you to handle.
