Yeah unfortnately Mr. Sherrif has, by all accounts, been IDing a bunch of people who come back as Not Mafia, and so Mr. Sherrif is non-the-wiser on who the mafia are. I'll bet he's let those who he's IDed clear know, and hopefully he'll find a lead sooner or later. As for the amount of mafia, to be honest I'd be surprised if there was only one. Four Winds has been the only confirmed AFAIK.

*Has lingering lynchers-remorse about Cleene and Morgan.*

Interesting on today's SK hit. The only 'princess' we have left (after Angela) is Darsa.
CaptainBinky 17 years ago
Er, wasn't Darsa killed earlier?
SnowDragon 17 years ago
Yes Darsa was the Mafia hit.

e ship's stores of gunpowder which had been loaded carefully in the bow of the ship. Looking down, the new Captain of the Princess made sure that the hooded lantern was still lit and that the tether around their waist was secure. While the figure had learned to swim, they didn't feel it wise to take any chases in the night's black waters.

This seems significant . Perhaps the SK is someone fairly new to pirating or the ocean?

The elusive princess is the name of MEC's ship.

There are a couple of things that jumped out at me - like that the killer 'learned to swim'. Seems like an odd thing to mention...unless maybe the killer had something about them that would prevent them from swimming under ordinary circumstances. Like, say...no arms and legs, or something.

But we don't know anyone like -that-, do we?

lol, jinx
MashPotato 17 years ago
EDIT: oops, I'm jinxed! *get a shot to the arm* OW!

MEC's ship is the No Leaf Clover, isn't it?

After a quick skimming, people to whom swimming might be new since they're a relative newcomer to pirating (or so I interpreted it, some bios are vague):
Captain Seung
Captain Rosa
Captain Piestewa

People for whom swimming might be difficult:
Captain Ginger Ears
Dominic
Captain Jessop (but he floats, so I dunno if that counts as swimming)

Quick skim, so I might have missed some

Right. The Elusive Princess was Astralfire's.

*paying attention*

Okay so that makes a lot more sense :X
MashPotato 17 years ago
Wait, now I'm confused... didn't the mafia capture Astralfire's ship? How did the SK end up with it?

Could there be some sort of mafia/SK teamup? O_O
Verileah 17 years ago
That would most emphatically suck. Havta read the scenes again an' can't right now, but there were other implications of evil alliances so nothing would surprise me at this point.

OMG there is so much behind the scenes goings on I don't know about :\.
Hiejinx 17 years ago
Ahoy! I believe you are correct Rosa. Nice Catch, no pun intended....!
Hiejinx 17 years ago
Nope, I just reread it. The Mafia took out the crew and the SK finished off the Elusive Princess so that puts it in the SKs posession.
MashPotato 17 years ago
Hmm, this is how I read it:
-Astralfire leaves the Elusive Princess to go on board the abandoned viking ship
-mafia capture his ship while he's away, then try to blow him up with his own cannons
-Astralfire's crew is taken out, but the captain survives
-mafia leave the scene with the boat
-the SK finds him on the wreckage of the viking ship, takes him on board, then kills him

So the mafia got the boat, while the SK got the hit. I could be interpreting the passages incorrectly, but it seems the last time the Elusive Princess was seen, it was in the hands of mafia...
*confused*

Wow good point!

*hides*

Evil alliance, nooo!
Hiejinx 17 years ago
Dang! Good synopsis! You know I hate it if they are in cahoots together. Just ain't right! :P However, the fact remains we need to bump a couple of folks off Don't we need a vote thread?
SnowDragon 17 years ago
This is turning out to suck even worse. I wish it didn't mean they were in cahoots. But how does that work anyways? Doesn't Mafia get first hit at the end and wouldn't it off the SK and Mafia would win?
Ok from the swim thing...the only thing I can think of is is either a person who has no legs and arms (Ginger & the fact that he is blind still baffles me on how he navigates a ship) or people who have lost or willingly given up a limb and now have a hook to replace said limb.
Now as far as the SK is concerned..I have thought it was Rosa from the beginning...ruthless female captain of The Golden Sunset--the captain with a slashed throat and tremendous sharpened hook in place of a her right hand. Not sure if this has any bearing on anything. Can't remember but IRC Frye was offed by the SK and not sure if it was sunset or sunrise when it happened but Rosa's ship is the Golden Sunset. As I said not sure about that part.

Now onto Mafia and some of the things I see....

Someone talked about a black heart. Yes I have a heart but so does Mary in her flag. But she murdered her love Billy and wouldn't that turn her heart black toward love?? Also yes I know any fire arm could be called a pistol but Mary has this in her bio drew her pistol and with unnerving accuracy shot Billy dead.
Also Mary's ship is called Eros (The greek god) from wikipedia...Eros was an attendant to Aphrodite, harnessing the primordial force of love and directing it into mortals, an apt role for the issue of a union between "Love" and either "War" or "Fire." He had two kinds of arrows: one was golden with dove feathers that caused instant love; the other was lead with owl feathers that caused indifference. The poet Sappho described him as "bittersweet" and "cruel" to his victims; he was also unscrupulous, mischievous and charismatic.

I will have to check on the rest of the bios. But this is all I have so far.

Yes, that's exactly what that means.

I feel weird constantly bringing mafia history into it, I just think it's interesting. It's not necessarily relevant, though, so skimmers can skip this part. Except for the serial killer, you should read this.

I've seen the SK and the mafia ally before, and with one notable exception, someone always betrays - almost always the mafia. Haunted Mansion was the only time I -didn't- see that happen, and that alliance was unusual for other reasons.

So. Yeah. :P. Maybe you bad guys get a kick out of watching townies implode on each other, but I'll be laughing, from my grave or otherwise, when this alliance (if it in fact exists) comes crashing down on your evil little heeds. Nyah!

I can't remember the sunrise/sunset thing either, but I do know I'm not the SK... and I have some stuff to back that claim up!
From the 4th SK hit:

“Good Evening, by chance could I borrow a cup of sugar?” A voice yelled from the other ship.
“Che??" The captain stared in puzzled silence for a moment. "Wha...what?!?!”
“No?? Then I'm afraid we'll just have to take it.” The voice laughed and then the fight began in earnest.
And from Rosa's bio:
Rosa's voice, unable to rise above the level of a whisper, soon echoed through the Caribbean: "show no mercy"
Rosa can't yell
Plus, as another argument, Rosa hates going into port, and the 2nd SK hit took place in port.
