I'm kinda confused. Did you paint this freehand, using the photo as a reference, or is it a photo manip where you painted over the actual photo?

no i used it as reference. i dont do photopaintovers. I use stock photos as ref as its the safest way of doing it without stupid copyright issues.
Plus if i'd done a photomanip believe me i'd have left all the detail in her hands , which i couldn't paint in...
