Help with external hard drive!!

*Places dunce cap carefully upon pointed noggin*

Okay, my husband bought an external hard drive with uh... 1TB? Yeah, that sounds right... of space. He partitioned it into two drives, one for him and one for me. On mine, I installed Poser (6) and proceeded to transfer my runtime on my current computer (AKA PieceOfShit) over to the runtime that installed on the XHD.

When I try to run Poser from the XHD directly, I get an error message stating that there was a problem with the executable file (poser.exe, I presume). I have no idea why, and no idea how I could possibly go about troubleshooting this, because I am a computer-moron, and my husband knows nothing of Poser (nor does he really care, heh) so he's not much help either.

Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions/tips for this poor, pathetic Poser-addict?

kk did poser run (on the external) before you transferred your runtime over to the xhd?

i dont know that poser is capable of running on an external.

you can leave poser on your internal HD and put your runtime on the external and link it, but i dont know that it will run on an External.

/nods that's why I was curious. I know the runtime on the external would work but wasn't sure on poser itself.

I wouldn't advise calling Smith-Micro though, I stopped trying after over a week and 11 messages went unreturned.

So uhm... is there something special I have to do to link them? Or will Poser automatically find the runtime files from the XHD when I use it?

I run my Poser off of my external drive, so it can be done, not sure what the difference would be tho. I do occasionally have an issue with my old pc not recognizing the external drive, but I no longer use it with that pc for anything so that doesn't really matter much now.
