“The Andromeda Strain”

Ridley Scott is involved. Nuff said.

I remember seeing the original as a little girl and it scared the shit out of me, especially the ending where dude was trying to stop the nuclear explosion to wipe the city and facility out. Watching it now - looking good so far.

I didn't like the original, but I saw it as an adult...and thought it was boring. I watched this last night though...err, well, Jon and Kate + 8 was on during the first hour, so I bounced back and forth then. I did watch the last hour though, and liked it so far. Will be watching the rest...tonight?

I really liked this version of the story. They updated it to have present day issues and of course there was a little 'green or die' type message but it wasn't so over blown that it was pompous and in your face. It was pretty believable and had bad words in it! I was afraid it was going to be another cheesy ass Sci Fi channel remake but I was pleasantly surprised.

I agree ROz! I liked the character development (which I often find absent in these MFTV movies), I liked the actors they chose, and thought they did nice jobs, I liked the way it was written, and filmed, and didn't think any of it was cheesy (the end surprised me too)..

Yep...movies like this show me they can be done...and should be more often.

I thought Ricky Schroeder's character dying (as opposed to living in the original) was interesting - that and being so gung ho military yet still gay. I really liked how they showed the disease spreading - not the goofy shadow on the landscape but going from person to person all psychotic and shit. It was pretty graphic.
