Well. EA shot themselves in the foot.
Amazon has almost 2000 reviews, and a massive 1 star rating.

Basically you can only install and activate the game 3 times. $50 game rental.
So far gameplay reviews i've read are filled with disappointment. I don't know that i'll buy it now. Really sad.

People were expecting it to be deeper than it is.
It really is five games in one, but they are nowhere near as in-depth on a one-by-one basis as is expected from Wil Wright. All told, though, the game does what is promised - it allows you to take a being starting as a single cell, evolve them through legs and tribes and civilization to conquer the stars.
It runs decently on my 4-year old system that still runs WoW like a champ. The install took ~20 minutes. You can "get back" your activations if you actually call EA.

Kev bought us two copies for the DS. I tried it, he tried it, neither of us was overly impressed but it's really not my kinda game to begin with. Kiddo on the other hand, has been playing it almost non-stop since she got it. *shrug* Kev may pick it back up again once he reads the descructions at work tonight, but long as Gypsy likes it, good nuff for me :)

DS is probably ok since you don't go online with it.
the big stink os from PC users.
we all know windows needs a reformat at least once a year and if you're nostalgic like a lot of folks, the 3 activation limit won't cut it.
I still play Starcraft and shit ><
