JFC i hate beta downloads powered by torrents

it wouldn't be that big a deal if games didn't START at 10gb these days.

i have to leave monday to go out of town where there's SHIT fuckin internet so i can't play for like, 2 fuckin weeks and I got into beta yesterday.

its still downloading. about 2.5 gigs left.

oh yeah. i mean warhammer online.

open beta starts next week i think.

Agreed. I was happy until I found out it was a bloody torrent download. That just killed it for me :P

Whats so bad about torrents?

They are extremely fast, and they don't take bandwidth or server capacity for the publisher.
Especially popular ones (and i'm pretty sure those beta's are extremely popular) have a lot of seeders and you'll have the game in less then a day.

The only 2 bad things i can think about is that it takes a lot of your download speed (unless you limit it), and that there's a big lot of illegal downloads spread trough torrents. But the first is not a big deal and the 2nd is there with all downloads...

many online Games today employ Torrent-Technology to bring you the latest patches, so you would have to hate nearly all the new Online-Games that will be coming out in the Future because they use the same technology

Oh I don't mind game patching online - I've had 4 years of City of Heroes/City of Villains doing it.

But in terms of downloading a full game (beta or otherwise) I'd prefer to use a download client and have direct access to the .iso or .bin/.cue files. Mind you I rapidshare a lot and find downloading large files more efficient that way than using torrent.

true, but Rapidshare wants to see Cash if you want to download stuff with more than 100kb/s.

and i'm not willing to give them what they want, so using Rapidshare is out of question...

I'm the opposite, the cost to get Premium Rapidshare is very reasonable and I've been using it for a few years now.
