Your art has improved a lot. Those two are very nicely done! Couple things I noticed though:
A border - your sigs look great, but incomplete. I suppose a border isn't totally necessary, not like a big fat one or anything, but something to break up the edge - something to make it look like a final piece helps draw the eye to what's important. Basically I looked at it and wondered where your border was first =x
Font type - Outer glow is a nice and easy blending option, but try googling for some font texture tutorials and start to try different things. One thing I did was I always used the same font for the same guild or at least something similar. Gives your work a recognizable consistency. =)
Negative space - you have a lot of it in between your fonts. It might be easier on the eyes if you kept your fonts closer together and centered.
Just always keep in mind what your focus point is - the background, the font or the girl.
