UK, August 20, 2008 - Poltergeist, one of the few ’80s horrors that hasn’t been remade yet, is set for - you guessed it - the remake treatment!

The 1982 original was something of a b-movie classic, with a great script from Steven Spielberg and direction from Texas Chainsaw helmer Tobe Hooper (both of whom, as far as we know, are not involved this time around).

Variety reports that horror specialists Stiles White and Juliet Snowden, who also penned Boogeyman, Knowing and the forthcoming remake of The Birds, will write the screenplay.

[/INDENT]This will go straight to DVD without Steven Spielberg. Poltergeist had a certain terror and humor mixed in with this frightening images of the other side. This shit gave me nightmares as a kid. I hold a memory like that dear and to hear they’re remaking it, probably horribly, breaks my heart.

I think the best part of the movie was the almost ending. You thought it was over, they got Carol Ann and then BOOM. Big scary ghost says, ‘fuck you, I want her back…RAWR I EAT YER HOUSE!’

Shame.
