Iz found a pencil!
Well Poser is pissing me off trying to master it, DAZ is fucked up cos I moved it to another harddrive on my PC and have to reinstall the whole bloody lot. But my cleric needs a sig!!
So I hunted out my pencils and see if my tablet will work... Had to put it on DA cos my hosting is down grrrr. It's just basic sketch cos I can't draw with tablet lol.

The pencil outline looks amazing! I couldn't tell you about the colored version, I don't know one thing about that =x :thumbsup

I love the pose, you can take it so many directions as far as emotion conveyed. Was wondering if you wanted cc?

Ah yeah, I always forget to ask for CC lol.
I can pencil sketch many things quite well (imo of course) but I always feel I ruin it when I try to colour something. Even with coloured pencils I fuck it up :( At least digital I can just erase that layer :) I am not finished with the pencil version yet, I just scanned the outline to colour it.

Finished pencil version. My scanner doesn't do it any justice though /sigh

It looks like you have a nice handle on value and textures in your pencil sketch. The color looks quite lovely but I do think something is getting lost in translation. Maybe you could try looking at your coloring in grayscale and see if you can get it to match your pencil shading, to nail down the values, and then start working with more color in other layers. I think it might help if, with the skin, you set yourself up with a nice pallet of complementary and accent colors, maybe add in something that reflects the color of the light source. I don't know, I suck at coloring :X.

I agree with Veri. You could even do the colouring in grey scale and then use the color adjust with the colorize function on to get it the tone that you'd like. I think that in adding colour you've lost a lot of the highlight and shade that you put into the original drawing.
Good luck with it. :)
Good luck with it. :)

This might be an idea for you for coloring. Mine started from a stock photo that I desaturated, but the same idea could work on a scan of your completed pencil sketch.
(WIP still hehe)

What I did was put a new layer on top of the desaturated photo, set to overlay (multiply might work as well, feel free to experiment) and then I started overlaying color at low opacity, building slowly so as to not overpower they image with color. On another layer, this time set to multiply I started to build the shadows in, using my underlying photo as a guide. Then a third layer set to screen to start building some highlights. I will keep going back and forth adding color, and adding layers as I need till the color is built to where I like it. (I also went back to the greyscale layer and did a bit od soft smudging to get rid of the jpg ickiness of the photo)

If you are using your pencil sketch as a base you shouldn't need to desaturate, but just in case you will find it in the menu under image>adjustments>desaturate.
for the layers look at your layer palatte over on the side with the new layer selected. There should be a drop down box that will probably say normal. Click it and scroll down till it says overlay. Then you can color in your basic skin tone, and it will still show the shading in your pencil sketch underneath. On my example i also added another layer, and using the same box set it to multiply and started building the shadows a little more by sketching in with the same color and smudging it to blend.
Basically it is a way to build your color up gradually in layers and make the most use of that beautiful pencil shading you already did :D
