Ya know, on one level I get the big-picture reasoning for how many remakes and franchise reboots have been getting churned out for top-ticket movies, and while i'm not meaning this to necessarily be a criticism of that fact by itself (though it's certainly worth its own digression) what i really DON'T get is why the hell they keep picking IPs that are both horribly dated and, juxtapositionally (can you 'ally' juxtaposition?), hugely iconic cultural milestones.
If your going to dig up an old and beloved series to do a big movie version of, it just seems to me that picking up a lesser-known with a bit of a cult following would be the better route than using something which is a cultural institution - theres just too much mythos and expectation packed into that.
not to mention the whole part about A-Team being remembered solely for the fact it was so utterly and irredeemably horrible... how exactly do you make a good movie out of that?
and no Mr. T? seriously? wtf
you know what could be a badass movie update to an old series? fucking Macgyver... it fits perfectly with the current trend in action/adventure movies and also with the crime drama craze.
or what about a big-screen movie for Tail Spin? i fucking loved that cartoon when i was a kid and would probably go see a movie just for the nostalgia.
or jump on the 'disaster movie + video game adaptation' band wagon make a big CGI fest out of Primal Rage.
man... fuck hollywood.

Lol.. Ridley Scott doing this is.. weird.
And the guy from NCIS is Michael Weatherly, if anyone was wondering.

Well Ridley Scott is producing, which should at least make it a decent movie, even if he's not directing. I guess he's working on finishing Robin Hood and starting Alien5 with Sigorney Reaver.

Don't think this did too well in the theaters, but I thought it was hilarious. Really enjoyed it although it was kinda slow to start.
