Olbermann and the 9/11 TM

He’s a little angry.


[INDENT]This is supposed to be a day of remembrance. Remembrance of the attack, remembrance of the national unity which followed it.

Most important of all, remembrance of the dead.

But 9/11 has become a brand name. A Republican campaign slogan. Propaganda of the lowest form. 9/11 has become 9/11 with a trademark logo.

[/INDENT]Olbermann, the labeled ‘MSNBC Blowhard’ went on to rip the shit out of the republican party for approxmiately 8 minutes. On Sept 9th he was removed, along with Chris Matthews, as anchorman. A nice quote from the Arizona Republic said:
[INDENT]What the headline said: “MSNBC drops Olbermann, Matthews as news anchors.”

What the headline should have said: “Tom Brokaw, NBC News’ designated adult, spanks warring cable babies.”

His gripe? That the REP are using 9/11 for fear mongering.
[INDENT]Years ago, responsible television networks, to the applause of the nation, and the relief of its mental health authorities, voluntarily stopped showing the most graphic of the images of the World Trade Center, except with the strongest of warnings.

And yet, the Republicans, at their convention, having virtually seized control of the cable news operations, showed the worst of it.

The man who complained at Tim Russert’s funeral that he better be the guy to replace the famed and respected journalist.
[INDENT]According to our spy, “Chris, with his loud voice, was going over a pitch for Tim’s job. He was saying, ‘You know, Tim’s thing was this, and my thing is that.’ It was unbelievably tacky.”

[/INDENT]God I’m quoting the shit out of the internet. I don’t know, I’m not an Olbermann fan but I’m not a republican either, but this kind of raging on national television says a lot for pop culture. People eat this shit up. But is he right?
