Jude Law's Watson to Robert Downey Jr's Sherlock

[INDENT]Jude Law is negotiating to join Robert Downey Jr. in “Sherlock Holmes,” the drama that Guy Ritchie will direct for Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures.
Law is expected to close a deal shortly to play Watson, the super-sleuth’s sidekick.

You do kinda see Watson as the bumbling idiot that always gives Holmes that ‘tard insight to help him figure out the mystery. I can’t see Jude Law acting like that, so hopefully he’ll put a sexy british accent spin on Watson. Make the poor Dr fuckable, at least.

I'd do Jude Law too, balding head and all.

If he's a good actor, he should be able to pull off either take on the role ;)
Too bad Guy Ritchie is directing :(

Well RocknRolla reviewed pretty well. His two early works Snatch and Lock, Stock and two barrels were outstanding. Granted his movie with Madonna was horse shit. I like his crazy mtv style of directing and anything RDJr is in will do well, he can carry any movie.

I agree those were awesome.
It would be nice to see a new spin on Watson. I don't think he was really originally supposed to look so much like a bumbling idiot. He was just a vehicle in the story for advancing plot or catching up people reading that might be going "WTF? What's he on about? The maid is a man?!?" Unfortunately constantly explaining how he got to his conclusions to a questioning Watson has turned the poor Doctor into a complete moron in most interpretations.

Oh, thanks for merging my posts into this one. I was looking for a pre-existing thread for it and didn't catch it cause of the title. I thought it a bit weird that you'd miss this movie, Roz.
Stephen King wrote an excellent Sherlock Holmes short story where Watson is the hero who solves the crime. I really enjoyed it, so I won't find it strange at all to see a non-bumbling Watson.
