[INDENT]Gekko Gets His Writer
Fox moves forward with Wall Street sequel.

October 13, 2008 - With the world reeling from the global financial crisis, Money Never Sleeps — the sequel to 1987’s Wall Street — has suddenly become a hot property over at 20th Century Fox.
According to both Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Allan Loeb (Things We Lost in the Fire, 21) has been hired to pen a page one rewrite of the project. Variety adds that Loeb is also “a licensed stockbroker who once worked at the Chicago Board of Trade.” Stephen Schiff wrote an earlier draft.
Michael Douglas is attached to reprise his role as corporate raider Gordon Gekko, a part that won him the Academy Award as Best Actor. Money Never Sleeps refers to a line spoken by Gekko in the original film.

Edward R. Pressman, who produced Wall Street, is producing Money Never Sleeps.
Pressman reportedly pressed Wall Street director Oliver Stone to helm Money Never Sleeps but he declined. Bud Fox, Gekko’s young apprentice who sold him out at the end of Wall Street, is not expected to figure into the new story so that means Charlie Sheen won’t be back either.
