My own worst enemy - didn't suck, thank god.

Thank GOD this series does not suck. It’s not the most amazingly written series out there, but I think a dark, split personality dramedy starring Christian ‘He was the dude in Heathers with 90210 Brenda) Slater can hold its own against the likes of any other failing NBC series.

HI2U Bionic Woman?

It starts off with Edward, the emotionless, remorseless, kinda hot spy who, as it is revealed, living undercover as Henry. Except Henry isn’t just a cover. Henry is his split personality who is a normal family man with two kids, mediocre sex, a house payment and a job that takes him out on business trips every week. Henry has no idea who Edward is, but Edward knows everything about Henry. That is, until, Henry wakes up during one of Edward’s missions.

There is much talk of someone’s marbles, Yuri and a James Bond ‘M’ like boss. Oh, World of Warcraft had a 5 second plug too. The tech who controls Edward’s mind (his split personality is literally like a computer - it can receive implanted memories like an upload) was playing WOW when Edward woke up during Henry’s “shift”.

Long story short, his boss isn’t convinced that Henry is useful so they wipe his memories totally to start over again, only Edward starts leaving messages for Henry to keep him alive. Again, this has to do with someone’s marbles. Henry and Edward work out a way to communicate (fedex’d cd videos) and work together.

I will say, the transition is handled quite well and the differences between Henry and Edward are huge. Slater’s ability to slip from one identity to the other is flawless. I was impressed at least.

I have high hopes. =)

I liked it. Here its on opposite Boston Legal, and I've been losing interest in that lately, so I'll keep watching this for a while, and hope it lasts. However, I'm not sure how long this premises can go on and remain interesting...guess we'll see.

I was halfheartedly watching this one at first because the TV was already on that channel and I didn't want to get up from talking to some people online. After the first 15 minutes or so, I ended up watching it completely, to the point that my screen saver activated and I didn't realize I was ignoring a couple of conversations until the commercials. Considering how often Christian Slater's been guilty of just trying to be Jack Nicholson, he really surprised me with pulling off the dual identity without going Nicholson even once.

apparently, it did suck.

Add Christian Slater and Brooke Shields to the list of actors with TV failures on their records.
NBC is pulling the plug on "My Own Worst Enemy" and "Lipstick Jungle," two of its more high-profile young series, according to two network executives who spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to speak publicly about the decision.
The network will not order new episodes of either series when their current orders -- nine in the case of "My Own Worst Enemy" and 13 for "Lipstick Jungle" -- run out, the executives said.
"My Own Worst Enemy" was given a big promotional pitch by NBC. The psychological thriller starred Slater as a man who had two separate identities and lives, and was slowly coming to learn about the situation.
But it was just another new series that viewers shrugged their shoulders at in the lackluster new TV season. The series ranked No. 61 in the Nielsen Media Research season standings, averaging just under 5 million viewers each week.

i'm not pleased, I kinda enjoyed it.

I agreed with the Lipstick shit, but this one disappointed me :(

I kept forgetting when it was on. There hasn't been anything decent on Monday night tv in so long I've gotten out of the habit of watching it then :(

What sucks is, there's a commercial implying his wife is a spy too. I really hope we get to find out before they kill it.

i watch heroes and sarah connor chronicles. im -1 to their TV ratings cause I only watch it online later in the week.

i suppose the reason the ratings are so low is because its a bad time slot.

Yeah, we're a bad Nielsen family ;) Most of the shows we watch are done after the fact online.
