Questions, help please =D

I bought some merchant resource stuff cuz Erik's been bugging me to try and make my own stuff...anyway..I was wondering if you guys could point me in the direction of a few products that are really good? I am finding out the hard way to read very carefully what things say they are =\ Also any tips on recoloring skin textures in PS? I tried and tried and just got frustrated. I want to make a medium tanned looking skin a bit lighter than Halle Berry's skin tone...if that makes sense? I dropped about $75 already and I've asked for $200 in "start up" money from Erik but I don't want to waste my time because I don't know any better.

So what's good and what the hell should I just pass on?

sarsa, mint, apographix ( fenrissa ) are some of the best MRs for skin

as for changing tone, well, its a lot of trial and error. try different layer modes, hue/sat or variation methods. you can even do a solid fill on a new layer and set it to hue/color mode.

just takes practice. but the above 3 MRs should be more than enough to get you started.

Cool thanks Vex...now I got a texture and it was ok and it came with some eyebrows on a psd...but they are beyond ugly. Are there any good eyebrow resources?

*stops by just to mutter a bit about eyebrows being devils!*

I know! Some brushes look so terrible when you use them they just look so flat :(

look on redo at some of the bits and pieces packs. I can't really name any off the top of my head but there are a few, brushes just are not as nice as working with photos unless you are trying to use them as a transmap even then not the best.
i have an account with 3d.sk but its a monthly investment tho =(
there are also some really nice photo sets that are great too

Cool thanks for the advice :D I bought one of the Mint ones from Daz and have been messing with it for a day or two trying to get it how I want it.

Also lol how do you return something to Renderosity? I couldn't find an answer. I must first master reading what things are for before I start buying like a mad woman!

I have been eying up different male vendor resources lately, I had high hopes of created a male figure. I had picked up the first M4 one from Sarsa and it's so covered in Hair that It's unfortunately not a very good starter. I had wanted smooth hairless skin (especially facial) for an elf/fairy type character.

I did find one at RMP now though! :D I picked up a few goodies at the MM that hubby is a bit annoyed so I have to wait a few weeks on my spending. :P hehe

Would love to see what you finally come up with with your creation!

Yea I saw the M4 Resources at Daz and wasn't overly excited by them. I am really curious about M4 products. There was a resource at renderosity I was looking at but decided to hold off for now. At least til I figure things out.

I dunno about the morph it's kind of generic =\ but with a baby that is getting in FOUR new teeth and just figured out he can toddle around it's slow going. So far I got the skin color the way I want it and played with a few make ups and made a few myself. Input welcome:

That's cute! I like the skin tone. :D
I feel your pain with the teeth, my son is getting in his back 2 molars, he's a BEAR!

This is the M4 one I found at RMP, I don't know if there's a better or not, but that looked the most clean.

I used the V4 version for the skin texture I'm working on. It's nice that everything is on it's own layer and that they have the guide on a layer so you can make sure your lips are a cm off to teh left.

It's a pretty morph and the eye shadow is nice, but it's a little too subtle, almost not there. I'll be honest, orange lipstick isn't that flattering and it wouldn't be one of the reasons why I'd buy the pack. If you do funky colors, I'd keep it down to a minimum and stay with complimentary tones - red, browns, etc. =)

I scraped it and started over =P What looks good in photoshop doesn't always work in poser. Going back and trying a different morph and tweeking it. I can't really believe I've spent the last 3 hours working on ONE make up.

New morph, new make up, new thumbnail.

At this rate she will be done when v5 hits :P

oh i like her! Nice lips, strong nose... has some personality. Skin tone is nice, eye makeup seems subtle but a nice pink.

Like her nose, love the lips, eye shape is good... but the perpetual scowl I'm not sure bout. I think it would be better to leave it up to the person doing the art whether they wanted her brows down like that. Could just be me tho ;)
ROzbeans 17 years ago
:thumbsup I like it a lot! The bridge of her nose looks a little hard, could just be the angle of the camera, but really she is gorgeous!

Hehe Thanks guys I worked all day on make ups but I think I need to put a bit of thought into what subtle is because I haven't worn make up in uh.....5-6 years =\ So this is not my area of expertise. But it's fun figuring things out. I played with the morph a bit too trying to soften her just a touch! She's all pouty cuz she's not cute enough yet for the other girls.
Adiene 17 years ago
she is prettiful :D love the nose shape too hehe

Very nice! I like how subtle her makeup is and her eyes are purdy!
