You gotta wonder about the daughter's side of the story. You know there's tons of drama there that is just begging to become either a Law & Order episode or a Hallmark movie.

So committing a federal offense for basically posting kiddie porn of yourself and going around parental locks on a computer aren't sufficient grounds for a grounding? The father took it easy on her. If I ever have a daughter posting inappropriate pics of herself on the internet, even on fucking facebook or something that harmless, I'll slap her so hard she'll be eating through a straw for a year. Whatever fucking lawyer even took this case needs to be found and beaten, and the judge...Jesus christ, what is wrong with the worlds legal system?

and the closing paragraph distrubs me:

"Is this what we want in our society? Laws are supposed to reflect our values. And if the courts aren't reflecting that, maybe the government will, to prevent children from going this way,"

Turning to the government, the same government that allowed that situation to be possible in the first place. Isn't this backwards logic?

But it has to make you wonder - why would the lawyer take the case? Maybe the dad is one fucked up cookie? The acorn doesn't fall too far from the tree.

If the story is basically as presented I agree with Kele - I've actually known some teenage girls that go so crazy because they know they can threaten abuse or whatever even when it isn't even remotely true - it's nauseating.

They do say though that this was a special case for some reason, and then never mention why - so I'm thinking there might be more going on.

I don't have children but in a case like this, it is complete bullshit that the courts are taking the right of a parent away to reasonably discipline their child.

What I get from the story is that the mother is probably a fucking piece of shit and gave her 'permission' to the girl to go on the trip to get the child to side with her, as opposed to the father who had legal custody. Many twelve year olds will stoop to low levels when it comes to this kind of shit because they do not have much of a concept of 'worldly responsibility'. I'm sure the mother coaxed the girl through the process of filing the legal proceedings against her father, to get back in a fit of psychopathic rage because the father was deemed the most fit for custody by the courts and she couldn't stand it.

As long as a parent is legally liable for the actions of their child, they should have the utmost right to discipline their children, so long as it conforms to the statues of law. No abuse, mental or physical, or mistreatment should be allowed.

The father was right to file an appeal, demonstrating "I'll be god damned if you are going to interfere with the discipline of my child".

The whole thing at the end of the article relates to the potential perception that the judicial branch is improperly enforcing the laws created by the legislative branch (I agree). The only way to correct this is to alter the legislation to enforce a stricter guidance of the judicial branch. "Government" is a generic term in as far as how the whole thing works. IMO anyway after re-thinking.

:(

It's happening all over tbh, in UK parent's get shit for their kids being unruly, but then get shit when they try to discipline them too. I am dreading what the next generation is going to turn out like...

Do people in Quebec have free legal help? Begs to ask how much money daddy had to be used on something like that.

Little shits taking everything for granted. Oh no, daddy took away my cell phone and said I couldn't take naked pictures of myself anymore! What ever will I DO?! ......*gags*

Not to distract from the discussion, but I find it important to point out that it happened in QUEBEC. The French speaking part of Canada =D

Note that the article stated this 'ruling' would not be found valid in the rest of Canada.
