Comic Sans has a hate club?

I didn't realize such antipathy for this typeface was so wide-spread.

So silly.

I toyed with the font for a bit when I first started playing around with web design and text art, but soured on it pretty quickly. While I really liked the idea of casual fonts and a handwritten look, it didn't serve that purpose very well. The dealbreaker was the lowercase m. Most fonts have at least semi-decent low-resolution solutions for their characters. The m is just horrific.

That font was a clear sign of noobness when we all got into screenshot manips. I can't stand that font.

Amazing that a font has become something that people create global movements to vilify... don't people have better things to do???

I used it all the time when I first started my website. I liked the simplicity, that it was different from arial, times new roman, etc., and because nearly everyone had it on their computers so my web pages were viewable in the way they were constructed to be seen. This is going back to 1996. Do I still use it now? No, because I've found ways to make other fonts viewable, and because when I do a website its usually more involved, and comic sans doesn't fit. But I appreciate the font for what it is, was, and don't get why people are so offended by it.

I don't know about everyone else, but I get annoyed when I see it used in an attempt to look edgy. They assume that informal necessarily means it's got appeal. In my opinion, there are different levels of informal. Kinda like how I don't always adhere strictly to proper written convention, yet really despise txt shorthand or l337speak.

Anyone who considers Comic Sans as 'edgy' is nuts...imho.
