A very sweet about an elderly man who met his wife when they were 8 and wanted to fulfill her childhood dream, even after she was gone. Also an incredibly funny movie with outstanding supporting characters. Doug the talking dog is so innocent and heroic. Russell the accidental stowaway is the product of a divorced home who tries to recapture the good times with his father by succeeding as a Wilderness explorer.
Go see this movie immediately!

I'll tell you this, I sat and CRIED my eyes out within the first 15 mins. Talk about bittersweet. All the characters are hilarious and so sweet - one second you're laughing your ass off (I was quite literally laughing louder than my daughter) and then the next you're crying into your popcorn. Cat and I got home and were like 'OMGOMGOMG' tripping over ourselves to tell Mike about it lol.

Did you see it in 3D?
My friend took her 7 and 10 year old sons, and the 7 year old got scared. My friend says its kinda 'dark' for little kids...

I refuse to pay 12 dollars for a MATINEE showing. That is just friggin ridiculous - plus I hate 3D, it bugs my eyes out.
And yeah, Catherine leaned over during one part and said, 'Wow that's kind of violent for a kid movie.' Catherine's 9 and even she could call it when she sees it. There are some suggestions of violent deaths which did surprise me, but they never came out and said it. The bad guy is quite sinister for a kid movie, but at least it wasn't dumbed down - I suppose it had to appeal to adults as well. The ending does have some finality to it, without giving it away, but yeah I'd be wary to take a 5 or 6 year old.

Oh!? I adore 3D and wouldn't see it any other way. The entire 3D experience is just so much better than it used to be, and the glasses don't bother me at all.
Going this weekend, and not taking any kids, so no worries there lol.

I still want to see this. My friend who is a graduate of Animation Mentor and I have been watching a lot of 3D movies this year for more than just the stories. He likes to discuss the technical aspects due to his interest in the industry.
Oddly enough, my buddy is the one person I've met who very much disliked the movie. He saw it a few days ago. Here's what he said in chat:
He's kind of pessimistic and doesn't agree with a lot of common sentimental values.

yeah cause its like this massive reminder of how all your awesome childhood aspirations are totally washed away by the mundane neccessities of your pathetic gone-nowhere life.

Loved it. Sobbed like a baby when she died, but I lovedlovedLOVED it!!
There are definitely people out there who don't like it, and read into it WAAAYYYY differently than the vast majority did, thinking it's a huge downer... but whatever, people can think what they like, I just know I loved it and so did Jen. :D
