GI Joe: The Rise of the Cobra

Man - If this movie ends up sucking I am gonna be pissed off very very bad. Ive been waiting forever for a GI Joe movie to come out and if the Transformers franchise ends up owning GI Joe its gonna suck hardcore =x

Dennis Quaid is playing General Hawk btw!

Anyone have low or high expectations for this movie? The preview of Snakeeyes and Stormshadow fighting was pretty cool I thought.

Pretty much. It shows it can be done as an exact match, but you have to wonder how many people would actually watch it if it did look exactly the same. Might be a bit too 80s for a wide audience. Much like I initially wanted to see Transformers looking like I remembered them, someone did an awesome video of a G1 Bumblebee transforming and stomping around a parking garage. It was dead on, and unfortunately very goofy.

They probably could've pulled it off as a modernization if they'd darkened the overall look and made the materials more rugged.

Just saw this - I really liked it. It actually surprised me. I had one complaint, but don't really want to say in case it gives anything away.

Saw this in the theaters and I really liked it... the nice twisty ending was good and I like the set up that was in place for a sequal. No it wasn;t a spot on recreation of the original but sheesh... so what.

LOL I know, I liked it too. Veb just takes some things personally, especially when they remake a childhood golden moment.
