My biggest complaint about Jay-Z in general is that he has some really, really annoying beats on like, every album. This one actually has less annoying tracks than usual, but a lot of the songs sound more like some second-rate 1970s soul you never heard of than like hip hop. Oh well. Some tracks are really good, and Jay-Z himself is always amazing. But man. If I wanted to hear that many brass hits and stabs and shit, I would... I dunno... buy a trumpet or something.
Not as good as American Gangster, but more accessible than Kingdom Come. It's definitely no Black Album (or Blueprint 1, for that matter)
