Carriers looks freaky - I love those end of the world flicks.

Just watched this. I'm going to give it a 3 out of 5. I liked it, but it's a once time movie about a superflu that kills everyone. EVERYONE. Two brothers and 2 girls are traveling cross country to Turtle Beach, a place where the brothers grew up, and along the way they encounter a man and his sick daughter. They meet various people on the way, but basically whoever got sick, got left behind.

Really sad story.

Well, since I know how it ends, guess I won't be watching.

I didn't give it away.

I thought we saw that one, but that description doesn't sound familiar. If you only gave it a three, I'm not gonna bother. hehe

Meh, yeah it's an average movie. It's rated pg13 which I think took a lot of the really gritty, scary shit out that could have made it an 'edge of your seat' thriller. As it is, it's a sad story about the affects of superflu on 4 people. Some nervous parts but really just Chris Pine for eye candy. =x

There's more to it after everyone dies?

Oh come on, Den. Seriously? I wasn't talking about the main characters - I was talking about the world. All the cities are empty, save for a few stragglers who kept away from the sick people.

Sorry, but I don't know how I was supposed to know that. You even emphasized EVERYONE. :(

Even knowing how a movie ends doesnt really spoil anything. The ending of a movie doesnt necessarily translate into the movie being ruined.

Ive went into many a movie knowing how it ends and still enjoyed it. You gotta look at the total picture and this is what movies are usually based on....I mean, ive seen movies with shitty endings that to me, were good movies overall despite the ending.

I guess that depends on who's watching, and what they consider as entertainment. Of course I knew basically how the movie Titanic ended, and still enjoyed it enough to watch over and over again, and the same can be said for Gone With The Wind, etc. However, if I'm going to go see a 'horror' type movie, the element of surprise can play a huge part in whether or not I enjoy it, as well as if I ever watch it again. Everyone's different.

Nah, it really holds true with just about any movie...not just horror flicks.
ROzbeans 16 years ago
Not everyone dies at the ending of the movie. Not the main characters. The rest of the world is slowly dying because of the superflu, yes, but the main characters - the 4 kids (2 brothers and the 2 girls) don't all die.

That sounds to me like either you're contradicting yourself, or you're calling me a liar, I'm not sure which.

Its neither and to be honest, its quite naive of you to even think or say i'd be calling you a liar over something like this.

Fact is, every movie is different in their own little way. It doesnt matter if the ending is known or not. Movies can be very enjoyable whether 1) The ending sucks or 2) The ending is known. Either way, its all about how you go into a movie and what you expect out of it. If you arent open minded, then yeah, the movie may very well suck for you, no matter what.

Its the journey to the end of the movie that makes the movie. You need a good storyline, action, comedy, drama or suspense leading up to the ending....The best ending in the world doesnt make a movie if the rest all sucked. Its like eating two pieces of bread and wondering why there isnt anything in the middle of it.

Ever watch re-runs? Or pop in a DvD that you have watched over 1000 times already? Yet still enjoy it? Well, same thing here. You can enjoy a movie that you have never seen before, even if you already know what happens.

I think spoilers can ruin a movie. A lot of people don't like spoilers. That's not to say every little bit of discussion on a movie is necessarily a spoiler though. It sounds like what Roz was talking about was just the scenario for the movie.

Was it District 9 where people were spoiling left and right and Vulash called us all fuckers?

I think I would feel robbed if, for example, The 6th Sense had been spoiled for me. Sure, it might have been fun to watch the movie to see if you can pick up on all the hints, but you can always watch it a second time to do that. Once I'm spoiled, I can never get that magical first viewing back - the one where I'm trying to figure out what the deal is the whole movie, and then my mind is completely blown away by what happens. That is an enjoyable experience in and of itself.

Or The Fight Club - yeah, great movie, but I never saw the point in watching it more than twice.

My point, that you either choose to ignore, or are too naive to understand, is that you are presuming everyone thinks like you do, and sees movies in the same way as you do, which couldn't be farther from the truth, at least when it comes to ME.

I already stated there are movies I re-watch and enjoy, but they are rarely horror movies. The only horror movies I enjoy watching more then once are the really GOOD ones, where the story is exceptionally good to me, and which are very rare. In reading ROz's review of this one, I hardly think it will fit into that category. I've been down that road too many times in my life, and choose not to be disappointed yet again.

I don't see why my movie review thread has to turn into an argument. Personally I think people should give this movie a chance, if anyone even fucking remembers which movie I was reviewing, but now it's pretty much spoiled.
