The Gathering Storm

I finally caught up and finished this (just now). In a way I think maybe the way things turned out will be good for the series - I'm not by any means saying I'm happy Robert Jordan died, but having him write the first 11 at his pace - set an amazing backdrop for Sanderson to really pull the end off. I thought this was one of the best books of the series - if not my favorite.

Which one is that? The Sanderson one? I thought it was amazing. A lot of other people hated it for some reason. Then again, I enjoyed the whole series, and this week I talked to at least 3 people who hated the series from book 5 on, because it was too long and/or too much rehashing.

Before I ordered the last few I read some reviews on Amazon - the last 5 or so books were rated like one star. Sure they slowed down, and there were some legitimate complains - but I really enjoyed them. I thought the character growth was very well done, and I no longer wanted to strangle the women.

Yea this is the Sanderson one - I thought it was amazing. I can't wait for the next one.

I still say a White Tower mafia (set before the current books) would be awesome. It would force people to play females (or warders I guess, but it would create interesting characters I think) and the whole black ajah thing would be fun.

Just got the next book in the series, called "Towers of Midnight". It's freakin' HUGE in hardcover; thicker than "Atlas Shrugged" and it's ~200 pages less. You could kill someone with this book.

Can't wait to read it *squee*

There's going to be a signing at the Arundel Mills Mall this friday. A real fan would drive down to attend said book signing VULASH.

Friday, November 5th – 7:00 PM
Books A Million
7000 Arundel Mills Cir
Hanover, MD 21076-1282

Having never read the books I don't suppose there's much point in me going, but I would show up just to hang :D.

Edit - also, conveniently located right outside the Books A Million is the Human Hamster Ball pool.
