I had a hsitroy of headaches for a year daily. All they gave me was Ibuprofin 800 . It usually never worked. What seemed to work best was stress release. My wife would go down for Oral Negotiations and that usually would relieve enough stress to remvoe the head ache.
Of course 4 months ago we found out they werent migraines. I still havent told my wife.
Migraines are TEH SUK
For the longest time I would only get migraines about once a month, or less. At first, I thought it was caffeine; I gave up all caffeinated sodas two years ago. Occasionally if I need to drink one (like choking on food or not noticing I'm drinking caffeinated dark soda) I'll get a migraine a few hours later...
But this one is my fourth in 4 weeks.
I'd bash my head on my desk in frustration but my head hurts too much :( :(

Went to my MRI.
So I get there. Very cute girl answers the door. Almost smiles, hands me a clipboard and says "fill this out." So I do.
She comes back, takes me into a second waiting room. Says "Take off all metal objects blah blah blah and put them in the locker." So I put them in the locker. She disappears, and this other lady comes out of what I guess is the control room and escorts me into the machine room. Asks me if I've had an MRI before. "No," I say. She tells me to sit down on the table, put my head in a little resting wallow, and plugs my ears with earplugs.
Then she pushes me into the machine. And even with the earplugs, the jackhammer-loud sounds are loud... and they vary... And I can feel the magnetic waves going through my body... and eventually I fall asleep.
Then I get pulled out, get told "You did great!" get told I should expect results in 3-4 business days, and kicked out. So I go home.

Sounds like a fun experience. :x I am sure that hammering made you feel better, too.

Fun. heh. I was extremely disappointed with the lack of 'bedside manner.'
And no, the hammering didn't help... I ended up with a migraine on Sunday - whether that was from the noise/vibrations of the machine or the pizza I had for lunch Saturday, I'm not sure.

Yeah I'd say their bedside manner was lacking. I am curious, have you been taking the excedrin as your doctor reccommended? If so, what's the effect been?

No, but I did take one of the Zomig inhalants I was prescribed. Made me sick to my stomach, and felt really weird running down the back of my throat and eustachian tubes. Gave me the willies. Also put me right to sleep.
If I get another one on the weekend I'll probably try the Excedrin 'Graine, if only to prove him wrong.
But then, I've been wrong about things before, so *shrug*

*click* That was the sound of gears turning in my head. Do you typically get the migraines on the weekends, and not on weekdays?
Mileron

Three of my last six migraines (since Jan 14th) have been weekends.
Before that, July 26th through December, four were on weekends, one was a Monday.

Ok, follow me here, and tell me what you think:
You mentioned in another post that you live with smokers
I am guessing you spend more time at home on the weekends than during the week?
It's just a theory, but maybe the smoke, or a chemical released by burnign cigarettes is a contributing factor? Try spending the weekend somewhere else, a friends house, wherever and see if you don't get a migraine or any form of headache there.

It's a very good theory though, and one that I've thought of myself.
However, the only way I can think of to really test if this is the case would be to spend more than a month out of my house in a non-smoking environment.
Because it's not every weekend that it happens, and in fact, from... October 2003 through July 2004, I only had... *checks calendar* 2 migraines, where from July 2004 through Dec 2004 I had as I mentioned five. I was out of work from Sept 26th 2003 through July 26th 2004. (*cues Twilight Zone music*)

Oh, then obviously it's work. ;) Is your job stressful?
Mileron

Not especially.
In fact, from when I started til almost the end of September, my daily duties included "nothing", "nothing", and "nothing" so I watched a lot of movies, read a few books, played a bunch of video games... It was an extremely slow period.
I'm having my eyes examined next week, after my EEG tomorrow.

I was in a car accident about three and a half years ago, and did visit a chiropractor after that for diagnostic purposes, but he didn't detect anything wrong.
I went to my EEG this morning. The lady was very nice, explained everything she was doing. Her hands were cold, if gentle. We chatted about dogs, cats, and the weather.
Had to wash my hair four times to get the glue out because my brother used all the hot water.
My diagnostic appointment (where the doctor tells me what he thinks of my tests) is on April 11th.
