OMG! That image that you linked... DAMN! I am always amazed at peoples talents and abilities, especially in the painting world. HOW do you get hair to look that amazing?? I'm so jealous, and amazed, truly great work.

I need to learn how to paint hair in ps.. I could only do it in psp before, and for whatever reason its not working any more and its too old a version to find updates or drivers online.

Anywho, I scrapped my previous picture, though I might go to it later, but I got a new idea.. so yeah ><

You would ask that LoL It and the bracers both come from I wanna say it's called Solar Flux? If that's not it I'll dig and figure it out LoL I was pretty much throwing stuff on her as I went thru the runtime til I found what worked well together.

I need some tips, if any of you can offer them. I don't have poser, so I use Daz3d Advance. Recently I started to use Sabby's girls, instead of just looking at them lol, but when I render, they turn out all plasticy looking, and when I turn the glossiness down, they look not so good, either. If any of you have tips for how to use her girls in Daz, I'd be grateful!

here is the latest render attempt. I've tried countless lighting set ups, variations in glossy and strength, and I don't even have a clue as to what is going on with the coloration difference in her chest/head/body... it's ALL the same color. I made it that way heh. gah!

EDIT: For your pic, I would INCREASE the glossiness and try to ramp up your bump map. See how that goes.

Kilandra: Sometimes I'll use a different shader from a different girl (like Liquid Rust's characters have amazing shaders) and then manually apply the textures of Sabby's girls. However, if you don't have any characters that have decent shaders, here are some tips (even good for if you do have char shaders). Also, I don't tend to use UberShader at all in my renders, so this doesn't really apply to that. A lot of DS characters use that, however. It has a lot of extra settings that can be good for a number of things (like subsurface scattering and double specular areas).

There's several different ways to set up the materials for skin. The lighting will matter in some (if not most) pictures, like you'll have to increase/decrease it depending. It is a HUGE help if the character has a specular map, but I don't think Sabby's older characters do. That's usually totally fine. You can either use other settings, or grab a spec map from another character. Sometimes even the bump map will work as a spec map.

Put the Specular Map in STRENGTH. That will allow the white spots of the area to shine through the most with specular, and decrease as it gets to black. You'll want the Glossiness set anywhere from 50-70%. The LOWER the setting the more the glossiness will spread around the skin. So if you need a sheen across her skin or something similiar set it lower.

The strength percent will depend on your scene, but anywhere from 12-30% should be good for most scenes. Adjust this to your liking.

The bump area has a lot to do with how the specular/glossiness will appear as well. If you want to make use of the bump, make sure the percent is set really high (depending on the closeness of her in your scene) 80-100%

To fake subsurface scattering on a girl without the use of UberShader or the like, you can set her Ambient to around 20% with a orange-gold color.

I'm not good at writing tips/tutorials/whatever, but I really hoped this helps. Any questions, feel free to ask!
