Mark Strong is one of my favorite actors right now (my favorite character of his was Sorter from Revolver - omg omg such a badass), and I really like Tom Hardy... and who doesn't like Gary Oldman?!? I'd watch a movie with those 3 in it, even if that's all the movie was. Just those 3, standing there.

It reminds me of "The Good Shepherd" (which I liked a lot) for some reason.

Gary Oldman is the MAN! He's been in so many roles that you wouldn't know it was him unless you actually looked it up....He's that damn good!

Watched this yesterday. The book is probably better, or at least easier to follow. They start referring to never-before-mentioned characters that you never even see, and it's like listening to someone tell you about office politics "and then Jane says to Suzy, who absolutely HATES Tom, 'Did you hear what John told Nicole?' and I was all like *gasp*", and you don't know who the hell any of those people are - or care. So. Kinda hard to follow towards the end. And it jumps around from slow present-day scene to slow past-day scene like an overmedicated geriatric Quentin Tarantino, so, there's that, too. But hey! Gary Oldman! and co.

Yeah the movie was confusing till the ending, but the book starts off SO SLOW and not in the order the book goes, for sure. My father said he read it on his way to Vietnam for the first time, but hadn't read it since. It does have a sequel. "Smiley's boys" or something like that.
