Big names and the cinematography is suppose to be very comic bookish. I know a few people jonesin to see this one.
Trailers, definitely gotta check this out. Its hard to explain how its filmed except its like a comic book. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0401792/trailers
Looks great, and has Bruce Willis, so we have to see it =p. (Hubbies a bit obessive ... not in a bad way, but its like oh! Bruce! WE have to go now! =p)
Now here's the potential problem... Sin City has several mini-series comics. The movie looks like it'll have almost all of them in it. That might end being too much to do... but I have hope.
Incidentally, early repoarts have also stated that most women hated it due to the portrayal of the female characters.
In the comic, they were pretty much all prostitutes.
Not my favorite comic movie yet, but very well done.
I also think you need to watch it two times to really appreciate it, there is symbolism in the black and white and color, but I found if I concetrated too hard looking for all the color nuances, I would stop paying attention to the story. It is weird, doesn't happen with subtitles for me, maybe it is just hte way my brain works /shrug.
We're watching this in segments. We watched the Bruce Willis beginning and the Mickey Rourke part. At the end of the Mickey Rourke part, I said, 'MR has always been a good actor.'
Veb says, 'Oh THAT was Mickey Rourke? I've watched that movie twice and I kept looking for him. When did you know that was him?'
'When the previews were out and they said it was him?'
Goober husband. /grin
I like it so far, Jessica Alba is the HOT.
Oh yeah, Frank Miller was the priest in Marv's story.
All violence is necessary IMO.
My husband got a tongue lashing at the store today when I realized there's a cover with my woman on it (Jessica Alba duh) and he got the one with Britney Murphy or whatever her name is... he said they didn't have her at the time, so he's lucky. It could have gotten really ugly down at the Wal-Mart....
Yeah I asked Mike the same thing.
'Oh, what cover did you get?'
'The bruuce willis/jessica alba one.'
Gives him a look, 'Why did I think otherwise...'
But that's ok, she is THE HOTNESS!
