Reading Club

Would anyone be interested in something like that? We can start with a thread of suggestions ranging from short novelettes to something Harry Potterish sized. It'll also give people a chance to read different genre's outside their normal preference. Then have a discussion about it?

Post your thoughts, suggestions =)

I'd participate as I was able. I don't have a ton of time to read several novels a week or anything though ;p

vulash - that isn't enough commitment

I'm thinking it would be a slower timeline than that. I love to read, just dont do it often. 1 book a month is what I'm thinking.

mae - that isn't enough.

I can do 1 a month easy :D That is a bit slow but leaves me time to read stuff off my own list :D

I'd be interested. I'm with Vulash on the one book a month thing...I just don't have time for more.

I'd love to do this!

What kind of format would you guys be interested in? Something where we find a book that none of us read and discuss it together? Or find a book one person has read and let that person lead a discussion on it?

We could do both, but maybe starting off with a recommendation sounds good.

I sugest Piers Anthony's Incarnations at immortality. A cool scifi/fantasy look at christian religion.

Warning: it provides a view quite different then presented in church or the bible, so, if you are offended by that, don't read it. It isn't bad, just different.

I suggest this. We get everyone that is wanting to do this and they each submit 3 books. Then everyone picks one book off the total list that they didn't submit, reads it, and then writes a short critique on whether they like it or not. Afterwards we can all vote on a choosen book based on the reviews and then the winning book gets set up for the rest to read and discuss. And then if that one doesn't appeal to some the others of course can be read also ;p

Winner to me.

We'd want to pick different books off the list - but no reason to get mean about it if two people really really want to read the same one.
