Dial-up help

I moved recently, and after 10 years of using cable I'm temporarily stuck with dial-up. I only have one phone line. My question is this: Is there anyway I can configure my comp to kick me offline when I recieve a phone call, and if so, how do I set it up? Thanks for any responses.

When I used aol dial up a long time ago, there was an option to disable call waiting. It was like *76 or something like that. Call your phone company and ask them what the code is to do that and when you call out, dial in the code first. Whatever dial up your using probably has that feature offered, check their help tab.

You poor thing. *cries for Primo's connection speed*

We moved out into the middle of no where and had the same problem for a while.. but had a dedicated phone line just for the computer. Still.. when working with a T3 connection to come home to 56k really really made you want push the modem along, buy a faster hamster, etc..

what is dial up?

Its a method by which cavemen and women would comminicate during the last ice age. It was a slight upgrade to drawing pictures on your cave wall, and inviting your neighbor over to read them. It got the data across a bit slower then the afore mentioned process, but it allowed the caveman to sit in a chair and be lazy. We thank dial-up for the invention of the TV. Because the caveman quickly became board waiting for this pictures to upload to his website, so he invented the TV to keep him company.

Hence the evolution of the man continutes.
