I.D. Ten T Computer Users

ID10T (idiot).

Customer: My keyboard doesn't work.
Me: Did you plug it in?
Customer: Yes.
Me: *knows it's a Mac with a USB keyboard* On the side where the little icon of the fork is? In port one or two?
Customer: Let me look...
Me: *hears noises of grunting, a clatter, a thud*
Customer: It's in this hole that has three dots on it.
Me: *knows that the port that looks like <...> is the ethernet port*
Me: Unplug it, move it one port down to where you see the ports labeled 1 and 2, pick one, and plug it in.
Customer: Plug it in to which one?
Me: Plug it into port 1.
Customer: Okay... *click* Oh, hey! The lights came on!

Ever hear that story about the woman who called tech support because her computer didnt work? Come to find out, her power was out and that was why. The tech told her to box up her computer send it back because she was too fucking stupid to use it. Good story.

she must have had a really old phone, when my power goes out my phone doesnt work either =(

seems like a step backwards not forward =/

Usually the older the phone the more likely it is to work. Its the newer phones that are cordless with micro handsets that transform into a juicer/ combo TV remote that end to need their own power source.

Any non-digital landline phone should work unpowered, power cord or not.

You just (usually) won't get Caller ID, Speakerphone, or anything special other than a dial tone.
