Scarecrow, do your job!

"Look at my corn!" Emma Jacobson yelled. "Those damn crows had picked it clean, where the hell were you?!!"

"I was there," the one handed scarecrow replied "but the crows didn't seem to care"

The answer did little to calm Mrs Jacobson down. "Well maybe if you actually did your job right they would be" She grabs the struggling scarecrow by the head and thrusts it towards the fireplace. "Next time you screw up, I'm chopping your head open and burning all the useless hay inside you!" She loosens her grip on his head and kicks him towards the front door. The frightened scarecrow trips as he stumbles past the threshold.

"Now go scare away the crows!" Mrs Jacobson screeches.

"But how?" the scarecrow asks.

"I don't care," she replied. "Just do your damn job!"

The scarecrow swallows hard and chokes back his anger and frustration before responding.

"Fine"

Latest attempt (big emphasis on ATTEMPT) at dgital painting. It's different from my regular junk, but I'm making some progress at least.

Jesus, that's a freakin' creepy image right there. The dead crow is particuarly gruesome because its shape is so implied, but you can definately tell it's a mutilated crow.

Is he hanging from a support? It looks like there's a cross at his shoulders but I don't see where it goes into the ground.

That is very different from your normal work. If I didn't see who posted it then I would have never known. Its good though and as Veri pointed out...creepy.

I love the scarecrows in EQ2 and how their heads turn to follow you when you walk around them. Poor scarecrow, I think he should have killed the annoying woman but it could be playing mafia that brings that to mind. :winky

It definitely evokes an uncomfortable feeling and I think the short dialog you have with it makes it a lot more meaningful.

Thanks :).

The wooden cross on the back was a support for him, but it's not connected to the ground right now since he's out and about.

I'm not sure why you're getting a red X though Mae. A friend of mine said he had problems viewing it on his system as well.

I would seriously love you if you could one day make a tutorial on you painting with PS. :) The more I try the more I get frustrated at painting.

actually, that's corel painter, not photoshop - i do believe. its a fairly easy program to get used to. everything acts just like it should, paints run and blend, chalk smudges, etc. nifty program, you should try it. its pretty much all i use, so anything digital ive posted is an example of what it can do when used poorly.

cant wait to see what saraq comes up with once he masters it :)

Heh yeah, it's done in corel painter. Although photoshop can be used, it does tend to feel a little different than painter does unless you tweak the brushes a bit.

I'll come up with a tutorial once I get better. It's really only been less than a week since I've started dabbling with the program.

Wow, I hope you continue posting your digital paintings. You already have such a great style and it translates well into the more paint-ish stuff.
