XMEN THE MAFIA Day 5: Voting

Choose wisely.

Also, I will need skids TONIGHT. If I come home tonight to fight all skids already waiting in my PM box I will be very happy. Thanks in advance.

Camfluxxor nearly crashed through the thin walls of the guard post when she felt a tap on her shoulder. She spun around to see who had the nerve to scare the hell out of at two in the damn morning in the middle of a mutant death camp while she was watching out for god knows what...

“I’m supposed to take over for you,” Cache said, interrupting her train of thought. “Quinn said you can go sleep or whatever.”

“Right,” Cam responded. “Like that’s going to happen.”

She mumbled a good luck to Cache as she made her way back to the cafeteria. Though it was pitch as tar out, her eyes had spent the past few hours adjusting to the darkness, and she could see quite well. The light from the main building seeped outward like a viscous liquid from a multitude of tiny windows, and as she passed a particularly dark section of the camp, the light caught on something metallic.

Against her better judgement, she went over to investigate, and nearly fell into a very deep hole dug right in the middle of the complex. What the hell? She was pretty sure she hadn’t seen this during the daylight hours, of course she might not have been on this side of the building then. She hadn’t been too keen on exploring since she arrived, and the idea of being here at all turned her stomach.

As she made her way around the hole, she nearly tripped over a pile of shovels. Well, that explains where the hole came from. She knelt down, and peered into the charcoal depths. It was too dark to see how deep it was, but there was a musky, unpleasant smell that greeted her. Probably just as well that she couldn’t see. She wasn’t sure she wanted to know what they dug holes for around here.

As she started to get back up, she heard a rustle behind her, and then suffered a heavy blow against the back of her head, tumbling into the hole, and into unconsciousness.

---

When she came too, she struggled to move, but her hands and feet had apparently been tied. She looked up, and around the edges of the hole stood the other mutants, shovels in hand. She screamed in outrage, but the gag they had stuffed in her mouth muffled her cries. The first load of dirt hit her in the face, and she was forced to close her eyes. As they shoveled, she could hear their voices, fading beneath the growing layer of dirt:

Shouldn’t we have killed her first? No, it’s better this way.
Better for who? What do you care? I’m just saying. Hey, she had it coming. We could always dig her back up. No, let’s just finish. Smartest thing I’ve heard all night...
