Reserve your X360 tonight!

Get off your butt and go reserve the Xbox 360 TONIGHT or forever hold your peace!!!

I work at GameStop. We opened up a reservation SKU for the Xbox 360 barely a week ago. We have had so many reservations for the system that we've already reached our alotment for the first shipment we'll receive in November. I called my store today and was surprised to find that GameStop is not taking anymore reservations for our first wave of the X360 after today.

WOW! :omg

I reserved my system yesterday. I found a bunch of games and DVDs that I didn't want and traded them in to put $50 down. There is an awesome trade-in deal going on right now, too, so I got a 40% increase in credit on everything I traded in. WOOT!

WHY YOU SHOULD RESERVE EVEN IF YOU AREN'T SURE YOU WANT THE SYSTEM:
1. It's coming out at CHRISTMAS TIME. Even if you don't want the system, remember back to previous years when people paid INSANE amounts of money on Ebay to buy systems because the stores were all sold out.

2. It's coming out at CHRISTMAS TIME. Got kids? A boyfriend? Husband? Brother? Think they're going to put the X360 on their Christmas list? Think you're going to find one in stores? Fat chance.

I'm not sure if I want the X360, especially since the Playstation3 comes out next spring and looks equally sweet ... but I consider it an investment. I didn't spend any money out of pocket to reserve it because I found things to trade in for credit. I may even make gradual payments on the system and have it paid off before Launch Day. If the Husband Unit and I decide we want one, we wont have to worry about scouring the shelves and the internet to find one. If we decide we don't want it, we'll resell it on ebay, get our money back, and make the life of a frantic shopping mother a little bit easier.

Hehe, I'm actually going to wait until about a year after launch before picking up a system. I bought the first Xbox out of the box on launch day. I took perfect care of it, but the disc drive ended up dying on me (the dreaded Thompson drive). Microsoft wanted $150 to fix it. I just went out and bought a new one for 200 instead.

That cured the "must have it first" menntality that I always had. lol

But yeah.. for anyone that wants it right away, go reserve it. Otherwise, don't bitch when it's sold out and you're hiking through the snow hitting every store from california to maine trying to find it. :)

heh The starting prices on all consoles are way too high. I just barely got a PS2 in February if that gives you any indication of how long I can wait LOL

im just gonna sit back and watch all the new system rollouts. im sorry but the x360 looks like shit. i dont care that much about how my system looks, but i dont need another computer in my house. and the PS3 has what looks to be the most uncomfortable controller in the world. its a friggin boomerang. the thing im really wanting to see tho is the simultaneous Halo3/PS3 Launch in the spring. As much as I hate Gates, hes got balls. of all the things ive seen at work from the daily E3 emails, im most impressed with the gameboy micro, its a lil bigger than a credit card and plays all the games just like every gameboy has.

Why I am excited about the X360 is the amazing lockdowns microsoft has secured re: gaming companies. They have signed square, FF12 is a launch title, and they have some exclusive signings with some high power, quality japanese devlopers. To me, this fixes the x-boxes biggest downfall, lack of game selection/variety.

I've never been a handheld gamer, so I don't care much for the Gameboy micro. Maybe it's because I have long fingers, but the idea of an even smaller handheld doesn't impress me. And everyone said the Nintendo DS was going to be 100% backwards compatible before it came out, yet it will only play Gameboy Advance and DS games. I'm not holding my breath. Gameboys are for kids.

I think both systems have their pros and cons. I've seen the specs for both and I think gamers could debate "sony vs. microsoft" until the end of time. I'll probably end up with both ... and the Nintendo Revolution too! I'm one of those suckers who likes games from each platform so ends up having to own them all. People like me are why the gaming industry is booming. :P

Roz, I heard a rumor that Square-Enix was signing back with Nintendo in the future. I hope that's true. I love Nintendo and I'll be a loyal fan until they give up the fight, but I wish they would try harder to compete with Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo has the potential to be just as powerful as the other two heavy hitters, I just think they've made some poor choices all around.

Cidwin I assume you've seen the x360 screenshots in this month's GameInformer? The June issue has some super sweet shots of about a dozen games on the x360, and I think the graphics look just as spectacular as the PS3. I agree that the PS3 controller looks like crap. I'm curious as to what the Nintendo Revolution controller will look like, but they're keeping it super top-secret for some reason.

Huh? I didnt get a chance to reply to this yet lol. I think it might be Geeii you're replying to :teehee In any case, we tend to wait like the console's a year old too. I almost talked myself into wanting an xbox because of Halo2 but I'll just wait the 2+ years for it to come out on PC, if ever. I haven't heard much about this console though, I should go read. I'm sure Veb has though.

actually from an instore coporate memo then later from woody of GU comics

lemme scrounge up that link.

btw if you all dont read GU comics. ya should.. i laughed my ASS off for like 3 hrs going thru their archives. /hijack off

im waiting to see all the stuff for the new systems.. just like the PSP, if it doesnt have games you MUST play on it, there is no reason forking out the $250 for it right now. and prolly by xmas sony will drop it to $199 or $149. the only game im kinda looking forward to is halo3.. but dropping $200-$400 bucks for 1 game isnt worth it imho. ill prolly buy one next xmas or maybe over next summer break. since they will prolly drop at least 50 bucks if not more by then.

BTW jenna, do ya know how much they are gonna be priced at for release? im best guestimates ranged from 200-600 i heard they are gonna have varying hard drive sizes in them, so the more HD you want, the more ya pay.

FF12 is coming on Xbox360? Last I heard it was still exclusive to Sony. The only FF game I heard coming out on they 360 was XI

ya Square Enix signed an exclusive contract with microsoft. prolly since their sony one expired and they opted out of renewing it.

Interesting. I could have sworn that Square-Enix was releasing exclusive content for the Xbox, but they themselves were not exclusive to any company just yet.Thought I read something about the Crystal Chronicles line continuing with Nintendo.

I'll have to do some googling now.

I have a friend who does playtesting for Square Enix. I'll ask him when I talk to him next :)

I'm rather excited about the reveloution. The fact that they are making it so that it is compatable with previous systems via. download is a huge step. It could in theory allow game producers to make games that don't have to stack up to the current power houses of systems.
