I don't think that $25 is unreasonable. It generally takes me a couple of hours to get one looking "just right".
Most people try to get something for nothing. If you don't know the guy, then you don't owe him any favors. If he wants a great looking sig, he can pay you for it, or he can go make a crappy looking one himself. :razz

A fair price - open question
So like someone IM'd me and asked for a sig. I said min $25, but pay whatever you think its worth (meaning beyond that). He scoffed at me.
Now, honestly...wtf? I've been doing sigs for about 1 1/2 years now, fairly proficient at photoshop and done mostly pro bono (always wanted to say that) work. First time I asked for money I got burnted out and stopped after 1 month. I got back into it and was flooded again with requests. Never asked for anything, never even implied that people should donate if 'they want to'. Most of the sig's I've done are from people I knew in game, good friends or aquaintances. Total strangers have been asking me now and it seems as if they're off server (solusek ro) they understand the value of my sigs. If they're on solro, I get a haughty attitude.
I dont get it. What's a fair price to you?

If they dont want to pay for the work then they can do one themselves or go without.
I dont know whats involved in making one but your the one who decides what your time is worth. Not some shmo who wants something for nothing.

I just dont think most people know what is involved in doing these things. I usually take ingame donations to help equip my toon, however, if I did cross server stuff, or outside eq stuff for ppl that I don't know, then I would charge around $25 too. That is fair for your time spent working for them. They are lucky we don't charge by the hour! :P

He sounds like a jerk. If you want a good signature you should be willing to pay it. Mae's work is superb and my sinature was well worth it. When i get so e of my other character bigger i will probably want to get signatures for them :D
