SW Mafia: The Guiding Force (MAFIA/SK #!)

As the ragtag group of travelers, some wide-eyed and some skeptical, found their way to the smuggler's communal cafeteria, a small dive called The Sarlacc's Belly, Kam quietly eyed each one, sizing them up and taking stock of the group.

He thought he recognized a senator and saw more then a few races he had only heard about. Two small, generally harmless looking furry ceatures, standing no more then a couple feet tall, made their way past chittering in a chuckling sounding language. Either they hadn't seen each other in a very long time or they were easily exicted, thought Kam, or maybe both.

The room had low ceilings but there was no exposed rock. Facilities like this were often 'excavated' from the rock using fairly expensive droid technology. It was apparent by the narrow corridors and generally winding nature of the bare-rock tunnels that connected the larger rooms, the smuggler's had used an older model. Kam rose from his seat and made his way towards the cafeteria line, a process he hated every time going through. Due to the large demographic nature of the smuggler's refuge, there tended to be a number of...entrees that were undesireable for humans to pass as they picked out their own poorly prepared food.

At about the same time as Kam was paying for his food, a relativly reasonable three credits, he noticed the last of the local residents, what looked to be a Trandoshen bount hunter, left the room. It was almost as if they sensed someting was a miss. Kam knew it was coincidence at this point, and so, he cleared his throat.

"Hello, I am Kam Solusar, and I am here because the Force guided me here, whatever future awaits me on this barren and remote rock, is intertwined with your own."

It was a bold statemente, one that would normally have him dead within minutes. But it wasn't a rash statemet, it was a statement borne of the Force itself. Nothing could have been more right to say at that moment, and Kam knew it. He also knew his destiny here may be one involving his death, but he was prepared to accept it.

Soon after people began introducing themselves one by one and they all managed to procure a block of rooms, small and uncomfortable as they were, in a secluded part of the outlaw's base.

Kam's room flickered with an old style flourescent light as the tube warmed up. "Well this is smaller then expected. At least I won't be here for long," he commented dryly.

"That is right, Jedi." There was malice in the voice coming from Kam's open doorway.

Kam glanced at his pack, his lightsaber dangling from its side, which sat on his cot, just outside his reach. He turned slowly, cacrefully hiding his movement towards his holster and drawing his small pistol. It wasn't much, but it should help.

"Who are you and why are you here?" he asked as he faced the other speaker in his room. No, speakers, he realized as a group stood behind the one in front.

"You know the answer to your own question, before you even asked it." The sentence was punctuatedwith a humorless chuckle. "Nice little introduction out there, 'the Force guided me here,' I especially liked that part."

"It's too bad you don't know the true meaning of the Force," continued the speaker, "you could be a valueable asset to the Galactic Empire, you know that, right?"

Kam knew what would happen next, he had known since well before his assailants snuck up on him, long before he had come to this excuse of a planet.

"I will never help the Empire," he said defiantly. "The Force guides my actions, just as it did the Jedi of old," he finished.

It happened so fast, many wouldn't have had a concept of what was happened before it weas over. To Kam, however time slowed. With one hand he raised his pistol and fired at his attackers. The other had was outstretched, calling through the Force for the lightsaber attacked to his backpack.

Although fast, he wasn't fast enough, and the blaster bolt was deflected by another lightsaber that materialized seemingly out of nowhere. The shot, his own, grazed his arm and he dropped the blaster in response, as pain shot up his arm. The snap-hiss of other lightsabers heralded his doom.

The scene inside the Jedi's small room was a scene of violence, upturned furniture and score marks on the walls, marks only made by a lightsaber, spelled the dead man's doom.

Actually, he wasn't dead yet, he was just dying, left alone, presumed dead. Exar Kun knew differently and as he guided the body he had inhabited towards the room he reached out with the Force and felt the slowing heartbeats of the man known as Kam Solusar.

He guided his vessel, for now that is what the person had become, quietly through the halls and stopped at the door.

Mentally, he projected two words into the mind of his captive, "Kill him." He watched with excitement as his student did just that. This would be a good one, he thought to himself as the last breath of Kam was choked from him.

/OOC I said person in there, that doesn't mean human, just sounded better then being.

Rhaa had heard the pitiful whine of a blaster go off down the hall. Like the other's she crowded into the doorway of Kam's room. He was clearly not alive. She looked around at the other's who had gathered here on Kessler with her. Obviously his jedi declaration did not go unnoticed or unpunished.

As she turned to walk back to her room, she noticed Daynn blocking her way. Her lekku's twitched as she curtly excused herself. He was that...human. She stopped and spoke to the group. 'It would behoof us all to take precautions and guard our doors. We are obviously not amongst friends here, but I want to know why.' She looked once more at Daynn, then took her leave.

Lian Si looked over the dead human and was distracted by the cloning possibilities. If he had not been dead long... perhaps, but alas, she was not on her planet and there were no facilities in which to clone anyone here on this desolate rock.

The Twi'lek woman spoke of locking the doors. Why? This human's death had nothing to do with her. His enemies were not her own, so it would seem to Lian Si that he was merely unfortunate.

She bowed her head quietly to exit the room, noticing again that most races were so much smaller than her own. How interesting. Some were even...hairy. She puzzled over the uses of such an adaptation while she wandered back to her quarters.

Destai peered around the corner, watching the scene unfold from afar. She had heard of the death, as had many others by now, and they were all gathering around the doorway to get a glimpse of the body. Destai had no desire to see it. She had seen very few dead people, but those that she had seen were etched into her mind. There was nothing good about watching another person die.

Being curious by nature, she couldn't help but try to listen in on the scant conversation that was taking place. Who was this man and why had they wanted him dead? After a few further moments of pondering, she decided to stay back and not let that curiosity get the best of her. Surely more people would show up and she could get a few clues from somewhere. She turned and placed her back against the wall and then slid down to a crouching position. Eventually, someone would say something of some importance.

His ears twitching in agitation, Kashaal took in the scene in the stranger's quarters. A brief struggle, lightsaber scores on the walls...yet the Force user had only one saber, and there was far too much damage here to be from him alone.

"Kam." He said the name aloud, as though perhaps the humans ghost may be lingering.

A small metal footlocker was suddenly crushed by his massive fist.

This was a trap, and he was wrong to come...all of them were. Another Force user was dead, and this was only the beginning. A traitor was among them, a pupil of the Dark.

Flee, his instincts told him. Live to fight another day.

But no, his broad maw of teeth expanded into a wicked smile. No, he would not flee this time. He would find them, route them from their dark hiding holes, and this time he would stop them. Make them pay.

Scowling at the others standing about, silently watching the clean up droids taking care of the mess, Kashaal walked purposefully back toward the common area. His keen senses alert, he could smell the fear. He could sense the Dark...

Miika couldn't tear her eyes from the wreckage that was once a human body, until the strange cat-creature's fist hit a locker nearby. Jumping, she gave a sigh and looked around for Thlatcher, her old playmate. She drew closer to him for security and ducked her head behind his shoulder.

She couldn't help but think, though, that the same people who killed this human were probably responsible for Onuran's death. Maybe if she found them, she would be able to bring them to justice.

Walking past the one that had introduced himself simply as "Brother", Kashaal stopped, every fiber of his being focusing on that one.

His lips curled back in a snarl. "You. You stink of Darkness."

Not bothering to let the smaller being reply, Kashaal softly fingered the lightsaber at his side.

"If you had anything to do with this, I will tear you apart...perhaps without my weapon..."

Stalking off, Kashaal fought to keep control of his anger. Solitude is what he needed. Leaving the others, he sought his quarters. There, he meditated, seeking the solace his Master had taught him. In his mind a question raced...Was he right? Was Brother tainted by the Darkside? Or was Kashaal being led astray by other forces? Doubt clouded his mind...

Opianua had just settled in when she heard the muffled shock of a blaster down the way. She peeked her head around the frame of the door. Several of her recent companions were peering into the room of Kam Salusar... most with concerning looks.

'"You. You stink of Darkness."' she heard a growling voice say from near the common area.

She walked cautiously towards the others and looked at the horrible scene. What had happened here? The large cat being was furious and a bit frightening. He seemed intent on lashing out at the one called Brother. And she had to admit, she also felt a darkness from Brother.

Eikoow stood amongst the others, watching the droids clean up the mess in the living quarters. She looked at the body lying motionless on the ground and wondered how many others of his faith would meet a similar fate. So sad to see such a young life wasted. Eikoow raised her head and let out a cry characteristic of her race, then slowly walked away.
