SW Mafia: An eternity beyond (Mafia #2)

Sebri Stoutheart was frightened by the events that had been occuring since arriving on the easily forgettable planet. She had begun to regret the path that had taken her hear.

Part of her fear, she realized was only partially for her own safety. Another, perhpas even deeper fear focused around the very real possibility that all the exposure to death and the Dark Side of the force would take her down the wrong course.

Without her parents alive, she felt so alone, so lost and had needed to find someone to guide her as she developed both as a Force used and as a person. It had been about a decade, perhaps a bit more, since her parents had been killed by the Empire. Killed for being powerful Jedi, killed under the pretense of a lie. Sebri, sinc ethat day had feared the force almost as much as she had respected it and it had cause her as much hardship as it had helped her.

And now, here, where she had sought refuge and consolation in teh company of others like her, found only death.

She stopped herself from thinking too hard on the subject and took four deep breaths, stilling her mind and soothing her heart. Her hands still shook, but by the end of it she was in control of her thoughts again.

As she turned to check on the others and perhps go find a cup of caff, she was startled to find others had entered her room. She tried to hide her surprise and appear less vulnerable by quickly glancing around the room, as if she were looking for something.

"I am sorry," she said, "I didn't hear you come in."

She looked at her uninvited guests helplessly and shrugged, "What can I do for.."

The blow was quick, hard, and unexpected. It sent her careening and she did an admiral job of recovering her wits and dropping into a fighting stance, less reminiscent of her parent's practiced movements and more akin to that of a street-fighter. fear overtook her then and her attackers seemed to sense it.

Wordlessly they closed and surrounded her, offering her no explanation and no escape. Instinctually she lashed out through the force, hurling the small footlocker at the head of one of those around her. The attacked seemed effective, but only spurned the others into action.

As her spirit escaped her body, pulling towards the eternity she faced after her mortal death she could only hope whever she was going would be a place less frightening and alone.

As the large dome shaped droid hovered out of the fallen girls room it reported to the security officer (more of a formality for the station than anything, for little security could be administered in a place full of bounty hunters, smugglers, and other nerfarious creatures).

Its mechanical voice seemed uncaring in its assessment, "Human female is deceased. Cause of death, unknown. No serious external injuries, no internal bleeding, no detection of viruses or disease, no evidence of brain trauma.."

The list continued on for several more moments, but the results gave no indication as to who or what killed the young woman from Ryla.

Daynn stared incredulously at the Twi'Lek woman for a long moment while he tried to recover from her question. He barely knew her, but here she was asking him intimate questions about his fate and the course of his life. Was that a good sign or a bad one? He couldn't tell.

"That sounds rather ominous, don't you think? You aren't planning to kill me in my sleep, are you? I could think of less pleasant beings to die to, but still, I must ask that you restrain yourself. I don't want to die on this rock," he replied, playfully. His tone then shifted to a more serious one as he continued. "I came here for a reason. I think we all did, even if most of you don't know yours. I plan to get what I came here for, leave this place alive, and never return."

"I know why I'm here, what about you? I don't think you've done much hunting since you've got here..." he said, then quietly added, " unless it's not a bounty that you're seeking."

Rhaa shook her head, 'Keep your suspicions to yourself, human. I only harm when paid extremely well and there's no amount of money that would bring me to this planet.' She calmed herself. 'I dont know why I am here, or anyone else for that matter. Why the few of us were addressed by that Jedi, Kam. All I know is that he's dead and another that was in his presence during his declaration.' She took a drink and enjoyed the flavor of the liquid.

'No my human friend, the only thing I seek here is the truth.' Rhaa laughed, her lekku twitched in harmony. 'Well that and a way off this rock with my skin intact.'

"Relax, I'm not scared of you." He glanced down at her hips and the pair of blasters resting on them. "Much," he added, smiling. "You are entirely too morbid and high strung. I think you should drink more. Or, if booze isn't really to your liking, I have a few other things that might be more to your taste. You know where to find me."

He then stood up, adjusted his coat, and prepared to leave. Before he did, he put his hand on Rhaa's shoulder, leaned down, and said quietly into her ear: "I don't lock my door. That's how little I fear you."

With that said, he turned and walked out of the bar and retired to his bunk.

Now with him whispering in her ear, she could smell the alcohol he had been consuming all night. Interesting proposition. She turned and watched him leave. Rhaa contemplated the offer and then turned back to her drink. The bartender approached her again and gave her the eyebrows.

The twi'lek considered her options. Then decided that...well they were crappy options. Trust just didnt come as easy to her as she would've liked.

When Kavitha woke up an hour later, she had a pounding headache. Man, that was the last time she was going to drink Trummel wine. Stuff was like riding out a whole nights worth of binge drinking in a matter of hours. Gave you the worst hangover you'd ever care to experience too, but luckily that only lasted a short while as well. Still, Trummel was not for amateurs, that much was certain. When she finally found the courage to open her eyes, she was surrounded by unfamiliar walls.

"Okay this isn't my room," she whispered before spending the next few moments spitting some kind of course brown fur from her mouth. "And what the hell did I eat!?"

Kavitha tried desperately to remember what she had done in the past few hours, but was finding it difficult to recall. There was a man at the bar wasn't there? Was this his place? She rolled her feet off the bed, but didn't dare stand up, not yet. The top of the nearby dresser didn't offer any clues aside from the fact that the owner of the room apparently smoked. She didn't remember anyone smoking though. She looked down at her feet, and picked up a very skimpy pair of women's underwear. It wasn't hers.

"Okay, really Kavitha. Last time you drink that stuff," she promised herself.

Slowly, she took in the rest of the room and then decided that she really didn't want to know. Gathering herself up, she stood and made her way back to her ship to look for pain killers of some kind.
