Can you see this from work? READ ME!!!
http://www.theangrycrayon.com/vbforum/index.php?
It's work safe, but we're testing out a new message board possibly for TAC and if we can figure it out (read if Vex can because I just sit and nod most of the time), let us know?
We're wondering if vbullentin boards are blocked and how many of y'all would be from work.

Why would a vbulletin board specifically be blocked from a content filter? Websense doesn't have anything that attempts to discover what type of forum something is. If someone can't see it from work it because the host is dissalowed or the content bots have indexed and blocked.
*HINT*
To not get forums indexed and blocked: force logins to even be able to browse anything in the forums excluding the login trouble and welcome sections. Keep the locked entries generic and clean, don't have specific refrences to anything that might be content blocked in regards to adult material or games. Weight of use of keywords for different categories is the common/popular method for autoblocking sites.

Veb thought all vbullentin boards were blocked from his military network. They have ezboard blocked and some phpbb. Well, all the major eq forums are blocked. He said he can see it from work though, I just told him to keep it on the downlow =x

Again, forums aren't blocked based on what type of forum they are. Their content filter could just be blocking the entire ezboard network which is not uncommon practice. EQ forums and such get blocked because of the gaming content (again, blocking engines use weighing of keywords in relation to a topic to decide whether it should be blocked). Depending on configuration of the content filters the new vbulletin forum may or may not be blocked in the new future depending on how they update their content rules. A lot of companies just trust the block lists from their providers, ie Websense. Others will watch what people are acccessing and decide what is permissable and what is not; this is common in large orginzations.

Why Vbulletin over this board? Security? Just curious. Do I lose my post count? I'm about to hit 1k. Dont make me make 1 letter posts to get there before the switch.

Go look at the new board, everything but today's posts transferred over. Users, post counts, posts...we're using the sub forums to restructure a little.

Ryala ~ any size that is readable by the mostly-blind should be fine.
Rikr ~ if all goes well, the only things you'll have to fix are your avatar and such.
