Where the hell has Sunbur been?!?!?

No, I didn't get swallowed up by a black hole. No, the boys aren't holding me captive in the basement. But I did kinda get held captive by my computer!

A couple months ago, my husband and some friends talked me into making up a hard copy portfolio to show around at Gen Con Indy (a gaming convention held about an hour from us). Soooooo I started working to develop some images that not only showed the versitility of my 3D art but also amazing realism that could be achieved. Well, during the middle of this, my graphics machine just up and died on me :( Almost a week later, we got it replaced (and doubled the speed) with the help of a very dear computer tech friend! YAY!! To make a long story short, I finally finished up the last of the 24 images last Friday. LOL I'll post some cropped down versions at the end of this post :)

In the middle of all this, my husband gets the brainy idea for me to make up a digital portfolio to burn on CDs to take with me. Ah yes, something else for me to think about! I have been wanting to learn Flash for awhile now but it had always intimidated me in both price and complexity. Lo and behold, I get an email from Content Paradise about Motion Artist 2.0 ! So I d/l the trial version to take it on a test drive. Within 2 hours, I not only have the program mostly figured out but I also have an idea in my head about how to set up my digital portfolio! And of course, it just so happens that Motion Artist was on sale for $30, which my husband was very happy about LOL

After essentially 2 days of playing around, I think I have the digital portfolio set up. I still need to go through and do a few tweaks here and there with positioning and animation settings. But the main parts are set.

I will be taking the hardcopy portfolio and the CDs down to Gen Con Indy August 18-20. When I get back, I'm going to post some pics to see how many of the people that I hang around with ya'll recognize! There is one author friend in particular who has been prodding me for a year to get him a CD. This year he finally gets his wish!

Here's the previews I promised!

The dragons look especially nice. So are you hoping to get commissions or a regular job out of this portfolio thing?

Thanks gals :) What I'm hoping for is to maybe, in the future, get hired as a freelance artist for cover art... something like that LOL I know this is all a long shot but I figured I should at least give it a try. Who knows, maybe I'll at least get some fan art and a few commissions out of it :)

If I don't give it my very best, I'll never know what will happen.

And Vex, I don't have a booth or even a panel this year. We just couldn't afford it. But maybe next year I'll at least get a panel or two. I'll try to hook up with ya so I can at least get a pic for Mae so sh doesn't beat me with a wet noodle :P

sounds awesome! I will most likely be whoring myself at the vanguard booth in the game room trying to hook myself and my boyfriend up with some beta accounts.

( note to dirty minded, not LITERALLY sex for beta accts :P )

But definitely would be cool to get some reportage going on about our resident artists.

In 5 years when you're doing cover art for R.A. Salvatore, we can flaunt that we knew you before ! and have proof!
