I'd shed a tear. But I'm not. Compared to Canada (Which is the USA's #1 oil supplier) you guys are getting cheap gas. Compared to Europe, your gas is really really cheap.
From my point of view, as long as humanity acts smart about this gas price hike, then nothing but good should come out if it. Hopefuly this means less truck and SUVS to people who don't need them (which is pretty much everyone), more hybrids and fuel efficient vehicles. More gas efficient heating, and more power saving. However, if for some reason the solution is seen as "getting more oil" that does jack shit to solve the problem. Thats like a shitty patch job that would only fuck everyone more in the future.
Not only that, you can't "increase" production if pretty much everyone is already at max capacity (The only nation that has capacity is Saudi Arabia, but they are dangerously close to peaking). Since the way pumping works, it requires more and more imputs to get less and less fuel... Then it would appear that there will only be less oil produced in the future.
I'm an outlaw gasoline dealer...
I wish.

Two words; Ford Expedition.
Wow, what a poor decision I made.

Phucker, my 16 gallon tank last me 5 days 6 tops. :(
Mylec
I just filled up at lunch today and it was 2.99 for the "cheap stuff" here. 60 bucks to fill my tank and a tank lasts me like 10 days tops. Go me and my 15.9 miles per gallon :x

gas is up to $4/gal here in Memphis, with the occasional BP still sitting at $3.
I bought a ford escape ( mini suv ) this past xmas and its only got 6k mi on it, thats including 3 trips adding 1200mi each.
i spent almost $40 filling up before the hurricane hit, that was at like $2.50ish...
i will be even more hermity now since gas prices here are so insane.
i left the house for an appt. today and nearly fainted seeing every gas station packed to hell.

Herbie Howard, who owns four stations in Toledo, Ohio, and supplies gas to 17 others, spent hours on the phone hunting a decent price from his suppliers. He had to pay $3.18 a gallon  9 cents more than he was selling it for.
"We aren't making any money," he said. "We're just minimizing our loses, but no one believes you. They think we're price gouging."

Yup Droggen that is the one I have been eyeing myself.. an SUV and good gas mileage. But have you looked into Toyotas? They have quite a few regular models that get good gas mileage too that I'm thinking over as well. Of course I bet getting a deal on a hybrid or gas efficient car just got impossible, damn salespeople smell fat commissions. (I hate sales people, I deal with them ALL day long.... /sigh)

Well the main issue i need to get into something bigger when needed is being i bowl and play golf regularly the trunk lining is my sti isn't looking to nice, and since i don't even drive my mustang anymore i figured get rid of it and go with the escape. The toyotas that i like aren't close the what the escape has for mileage. I had the 4runner but returned it b4 the 30 days were up it had horribe gas mileage and i bought the STI. IM also looking into the Highlander Hybrid as well but still leaning massivly towards the Mercury/FOrd hybrids they look alot nicer IMO and have better interiors (im a sucker for leather and all the extra electronic goodies)
On a sid enote my dad recently leased an electric car since things are so fugged up. Its prtty cool can get to anywhere we need to go on the island with it and back. (short tops of course) but normally we used it for the short runs that kills gas mileage over anything else and when going to familys houses sicne we can plug it back in =P
