George Bush care about black people
Saw this over on another message board. Got a chuckle out of it.

Defintely agreed about the race card being played too often. My older relatives definitely use it a lot. lol

Sad thing is I 100% agree with this.

there's no excuse for poverty in this country. opportunities abound, yet people are more interested in hand outs and feeling sorry for themselves than siezing them. oh, and who's responsible for all the hand outs? republicans? no.

Yeah Kaytana it's the same here, they've stopped taking most donations other than cash and baby things since they were just overwhelmed. I know they are constantly taking volunteers for the Dome, and tons of local churchs have organized shelters and their members are taking families into their homes as they can. The 'giving' spirit is alive and well, for sure. And it looks like most of the people will be trying to settle down here, for a long while at least.
While I know Bush is a screw up beyond belief.... a little part of me gets mad at how all the media shows are people complaining they 'got nothing' from the government.. while it can't be changed and was a tragedy of epic proportions... Well... I just hope they can start recover and to do for themselves and not expect a constant handout. We need to help them get on their feet, not carry them forever. And I dread trying to find a job in Houston for the foreseeable future. I'd been wanting to find something new but I'm not going to bother much now.
And I hate how the race card gets played for everything.. It does cheapen everthing that a culture suffered through, and it desensitizes people to it. Not to mention in the back of my mind I'm always waiting for some sore loser to lash out with it. Just because I've come to expect it, which is sad about me, I know.

This is something you won't see very often from me because I generally sit back and keep my thoughts to myself. But /rant on!
The only thing that I have to say is that all these politicians (both sides but specificially the Senator formerly known as First Bitch err Lady) have had time to schedule all these press conferences to speak out about how badly everything has been handled but didn't have time to go out and lend a hand in these areas themselves. This entire situation HAS been handled very badly from the bottom all the way to the top of the political arena. That point has been stated over and over again to the point that it's been beaten into the ground. All the finger pointing that has been going around could have amounted to millions of man hours to helping people all along the Gulf Coast.
And the media has done nothing but make this entire situation worse. You constantly see videos and reports of all these media people riding around in boats and helicopter. Did they take the time stop to help people they were riding/flying by? NO! Instead they went about reporting on all the dead bodies that were being bypassed in order to rescue the living. Think of how many people they could have rescued during this time! But, of course, they would have had to of put down their cameras and microphones in order to do this.
And don't even get me started on the Mayor of New Orleans who completely ignored the evacuation plans that were set in place just in case the possiblity of a hurricane coming close to New Orleans ( City of New Orleans Emergency Preparedness Plan ). Or the power struggles between the Mayor and the Governor of Louisiana. Of course everything is going to be made worse when various agencies are getting conflicting reports from 2 people who are supposed to work together! They both had almost 72 hours warning that this massive hurricane was going to come close, if not directly hit, New Orleans. So why did they choose NOT to follow the plans that had been set in place? And why do they instead choose to bicker back and forth about who has control over the situation as it stands now?
Maybe the politicians ought to take note of how the people they are supposed to be representing are banding together to help out their fellow Americans in their time of need. There has been such an outpouring of care throughout the entire nation since the very beginning. The politicians need to take note of that before they get whacked upside the head with a bag of diapers!
Ok /rant off

I've seen a lot of video of camera crews stopping to help people when they were told they should leave it to the military or whomever. So honestly my hat goes off to the news crews. I did hear on CNN today that the head guy of FEMA had NO IDEA people were in the NO Dome until 72 HOURS (that's right, 3 days) after the hurricane hit.
How is that even possible? It was all over the news. It's just horrible every way you look at it.
